Jailer is a database subsetting and browsing tool. It is a tool for data exporting, schema browsing, and rendering. It exports consistent, referentially intact row-sets from relational databases. It removes obsolete data without violating integrity. It is DBMS agnostic (by using JDBC), platform independent, and generates DbUnit datasets, hierarchically structured XML, and topologically sorted SQL-DML.
sqlmap is a penetration testing tool that automates the process of detecting and exploiting SQL injection flaws and taking over of database servers. It comes with a detection engine, many niche features, and a broad range of switches including database fingerprinting, data fetching from the database, and accessing the underlying file system and executing commands on the operating system via out-of-band connections.
FormatCheck is an application that screens flat files (fixed and variable width) for violations in the format of the data. The input files may contain one record type or a mixture of record formats, such as a file containing header and detail records. It uses a set of XML files that define the file formats that can be evaluated. Each XML file defines the acceptable record layout(s) for one input format. The application supports a record-related XML schema definition. This design makes updates and additions to record definitions straightforward, requiring only an update of the XML format definition.
Datamixer generates mock data, mixes it with data from other sources such as files, and can write the results back to files or the console. Different data structures, formats, and data types are supported. Datamixer is meant for unit testing, Web site development, numeric simulation, and any situation where realistic data values are needed.
check_mysql runs as a daemon with a continuous connection to MySQL, watching the list of running SELECT queries. It enforces a timeout for queries: if a query runs too long, it is killed and a report including the query and EXPLAIN output are emailed. Its probably not something you'd want to use on a production system, but it is very useful during development and testing phases for finding, analyzing, and optimizing SQL queries.
