MaVerick is a MultiValue database management system. MultiValue databases are said to be one of the computer industry's best kept secrets. First appearing over 30 years ago as PICK, they have continued to evolve through various commercial vendors, and are still in active development today. They are very resource friendly, are incredibly fast, feature a very user friendly data retrieval and reporting language (variously called ACCESS or English), and a rapid application development language based originally on Dartmouth Basic. The MaVerick project is an attempt to create an open source variant, written in Java.
OpenIsis provides a library and tools to access CDS/ISIS databases, which are mostly used for bibliographic data (ISO2709, Z39.50) but also well suited for other catalogues due to the very flexible indexing mechanism. Based on a C library, there are also bindings for Perl and Java (Tcl to come).
The Trivial Database Replication System provides a high-performance, replicated, distributed, peer-to-peer Unix DBM-style database built on TDB. A library with a published API, replication daemon, and userland tools are provided. The peer-to-peer design means that there are no single points of failure. Requests to retrieve data are served by a database copy on local disk, while requests to delete/add/modify data are sent over the network.
@1 Data Sorting Tool grabs contents from a text-based data file and sorts the data before tabulating it into an HTML table. Visitors can click on the title fields to re-sort the table in acending or decending order. It works with MS Excel/Access data files or any other tab/pipe/colon-delimited text files, and supports unlimited tables and sub-user accounts.
The SODA Native XML Database System is a native XML database that provides efficient management of large amounts of XML data. It is based on a multi-user, client-server architecture with a generic query processing layer that can easily support different query languages. In this lightweight version, user- defined indexes and query optimizations have been removed, however full transaction support (commits and rollbacks) and crash recovery are available.
ThinkSQL is a powerful, cross-platform, multi-threaded relational database management system. It supports Core ISO SQL, transactions, sub-selects, views, stored procedures, functions, comprehensive constraints, large objects, multi-version concurrency control, on-line backups, and a statistical optimizer that uses constraints and relationships to improve plans. The SQL server is simple to install and bloat-free. It runs under Windows and Linux and includes native ODBC, dbExpress (Delphi/Kylix), Python, and JDBC drivers.
