With MetaModel, you use a type-safe SQL-like API for querying any datastore. It is a data access framework providing a common interface for exploration and querying of different types of datastores. It isn't a data mapping framework. Instead, it emphasizes abstraction of metadata and the ability to add data sources at runtime, making MetaModel great for generic data processing applications, but less so for applications modeled around a particular domain.
CloverETL is Java-based tool/framework for data integration and creation of data transformations. It is component based and follows the concept of transformation graphs which consist of individual nodes/components performing simple (or complex) operations on data. Any transformation can be defined as a set of interconnected nodes through which data flows. CloverETL can be used as a standalone application or be embedded into a larger project.
DBPrism is an open source framework to generate dynamic XML from a database. It connects Oracle databases with Apache Cocoon, providing a high performance DBGenerator with functionality such as parallel content aggregation and ESI cache protocol. It also includes a powerlful database oriented CMS built on top of Apache Cocoon2 and DBPrism.
DataReel is a free, cross-platform database and communications toolkit. It can be used to rapidly develop and deploy multi-threaded database and communications applications. The DataReel toolkit is composed of a modular C++ library designed to build cross-platform infrastructures for end-user applications, embedded systems, and reusable libraries. DataReel's unique modular design simplifies adaptation, allowing you to determine the level of complexity. DataReel makes Internet connectivity and database programming easy.
The goal of the Database Template Library is to make ODBC recordsets look just like an STL container. As a user, you can move through containers using standard STL iterators, and if you insert(), erase(), or replace() records in the containers, changes can be automatically committed to the database for you. The library's compliance with the STL iterator and container standards means you can plug the abstractions into a wide variety of STL algorithms for data storage, searching, and manipulation. In addition, the C++ reflection mechanism used by the library to bind to database tables allows generic indexing and lookup properties to be added to the containers with no special code required from the enduser. Because the code takes full advantage of the template mechanism, the library adds minimal overhead compared with using raw ODBC calls to access a database.
HotCache is a transactional distributed caching system that runs on top of most RDBMSes. It provides an object-relational mapping tool that makes the use of embedded SQL unnecessary and saves tedious mapping programming. It enhances RDBMS commit functionality by adding commit-broadcast transactions where data is committed to the database and at the same time pushed to all other client caches, in essence keeping the data at remote clients hot. This improves performance by orders of magnitude (as most data access can be done locally) and reduces the load on the database server. The commit-broadcast transactions are implemented using UDP multicast for maximum network utilization. HotCache provides a sophisticated event framework that allows the client to register interest in business objects and be notified when changes are committed. The event framework is built so that it can be easily integrated with other systems' event-loops, eliminating multi-threading problems, etc. Notification can also be configured to take place in an asynchronous/multi-threaded method.
Itzam/C++ wraps the Itzam database engine with C++ templates for both simple and complex database classes. It supports B-tree, hash table, and sparse matrix indexes with unique or duplicate keys, and includes multithreaded resource locking and atomic file transactions. Complete class documentation is embedded in the source code, and available online and in the distribution archive.
MUSCLE (Multi User Server Client Linking Environment) is an N-way messaging server and networking API. It includes client-side networking APIs for various languages, including C, C++, C#, Delphi, Java, and Python. MUSCLE lets programs communicate over a network via streams of serialized Message objects. The included server program ("muscled") lets its clients message each other and store information in its server-side hierarchical database. The database supports flexible queries via hierarchical wildcarding, and "live" updates via a subscription mechanism.
