SaVi is satellite visualization software that lets you create, run, examine, and modify satellite orbits in two and three dimensions. Simulations of Iridium, Globalstar, Galileo, GPS, and other satellite constellations are included. SaVi requires Tcl and Tk on a system with Unix libraries. SaVi works well with the 3D renderer Geomview. Geomview is optional, though recommended for its 3D rendering capabilities.
bmake is a program designed to simplify the maintenance of other programs. Its input is a list of specifications as to the files upon which programs and other files depend. If no -f makefile makefile option is given, bmake will try to open 'makefile' and then 'Makefile' in order to find the specifications.
Zsh is a UNIX command interpreter (shell) which of the standard shells most resembles the Korn shell (ksh). It includes enhancements of many types, notably in the command-line editor, options for customising its behaviour, filename globbing, features to make C-shell (csh) users feel more at home and extra features drawn from tcsh.
PBZIP2 is a parallel implementation of the bzip2 block-sorting file compressor that uses pthreads and achieves near-linear speedup on SMP machines. The output of this version is fully compatible with bzip2 1.0.2 or newer (ie: anything compressed with PBZIP2 can be decompressed with bzip2).
GENESIS (short for GEneral NEural SImulation System) is a general purpose simulation platform that was developed to support the simulation of neural systems ranging from subcellular components and biochemical reactions to complex models of single neurons, simulations of large networks, and systems-level models. It was developed as a research tool to provide a standard and flexible means for constructing structurally realistic models of biological neural systems.
BitchX is the premiere IRC (Internet Relay Chat) client. It originally was a modified version of the popular ircII client, and the features were eventually merged into the EPIC IRC client. The current development is aimed at merging the client back to a current branch of EPIC and bringing compatibility and stability back to the client, while bringing the features that are BitchX into a new client.
mwcollect is an easy solution to collect worm-like malware in a non-native environment like FreeBSD or Linux. The first versions were used to collect binaries for botnet monitoring, and bots are still what it is mostly collecting. Some people consider it a next generation honeypot; however, that comparison often leads to the misunderstanding that computers running mwcollect can actually be infected with the malware, which is not the case.
Outwit is a suite of tools based on the Unix tool design principles allowing the processing of Windows application data with sophisticated data manipulation pipelines. The outwit tools offer access to the Windows clipboard, the registry, the event log, relational databases, document properties, shell links, and the event log.
