RTTL2WAV converts a RTTTL-formatted mobile phone ringing tone to a WAV file. The output of this program can also be copied to stdout as a raw PCM data (linear 44.1kHz signed 16bit integers). It also includes a shell script which allows you to listen ringing tones directly with your sound card.

It is an optional package that extends the multimedia capabilities on the Java2 platform. The Blackdown JMF is a Performace Pack which includes native code in order to provide faster processing and tighter integration with Linux than the all-Java version.

transcode is a text console video-stream processing tool. It supports elementary video and audio frame transformations. Some example modules are included to enable import of MPEG-1/2, Digital Video, and other formats. It also includes export modules for writing to AVI files with DivX, OpenDivX, XviD, Digital Video or other codecs. Direct DVD transcoding is also supported. A set of tools is available to extract and decode the sources into raw video/audio streams for import and to enable post-processing of AVI files.

It includes deep buffering of audio and video to reduce frame dropping, a smooth dropping algorithm to keep the video smooth if dropping is required, and dynamic stretching of the audio stream to exactly match the video stream. It can use v4l1 and v4l2 devices as video sources, and OSS devices as an audio source. Xpand is a simple Python script with Glade GUI front-end for sox, cdparanoia, notlame, mpg123, and normalize. It uses the compand option in sox to adjust the dynamic range of music so the soft parts can be heard in a noisy environment, such as a car. The volume level can be normalized to a standard level so that music originally recorded at different levels will all have the same volume. Music can be read from an MP3, WAV file, or straight from a music CD and output to a MP3 or WAV file.

wadext2 extracts all the lumps of a wad to separate files. It does not perform any conversion on the contents of the lumps; it just dumps them byte for byte. wadext2 does with wad files what tar -x does with tar archives.
