SWFTools is a collection of code for handling Flash .SWF-files. This includes a merging tool (swfcombine), an extracting tool (swfextract), PDF/JPEG/PNG/AVI/TTF/WAV to SWF converters (pdf2swf, jpeg2swf, png2swf, avi2swf, font2swf, and wav2swf), a text parsing tool (swfstrings), an SWF parser (swfdump), and a library for writing and reading SWFs (rfxswflib).
shn2make works with sets of SHN or FLAC audio files and the make program to automate the burning of archive and audio CDs, and the encoding of MP3 and Ogg files. It finds the SHN or FLAC files in the current directory and verifies the MD5 checksums. It then looks for the .nfo or .txt file, finds the song names, and matches the songs to the available files. If everything is correct, it outputs the text of a Makefile. The targets of the makefile automate the various tasks that need to be done with SHN and FLAC sets. For example, "make Ogg" will uncompress and then encode all the files in the set to named and tagged Ogg Vorbis files.
The streamTranscoder is a multi-platform utility which can be used to transcode media streams from one format to another, and from one server type to another. It will read in streams of type MP3 and Vorbis from most servers (Icecast, Icecast2, Shoutcast), convert it into various formats, and send to various streaming servers.
Based on the sources of Quicktime4Linux, OpenQuicktime has since been extensively remodeled and streamlined. The build system is based on Automake/libtool and builds on most varieties of Unix. The codecs are all external from the main library. Included is a player, encoder, audio and video extractors, and a number of other utilities.
The MP3 Streaming DownSampler for PHP is written with cable modem/DSL users with low upstream caps in mind. Using LAME, it dynamically downsamples a requested MP3 to a bitrate which can be streamed. It doesn't use temporary files, so you don't have to take the time to do any batching, and you just give it a directory with symlinks to your music in a place the Web server can reach. The interface is simplistic and fast, meant for immediate plug and play access.
crip is a terminal-based ripper/encoder/tagger tool for creating Ogg Vorbis files (or MP3 files for crip 1.X) under Unix/Linux. It is well-suited for someone seeking to make a lot of Ogg/MP3 files from CDs and have them all properly labeled and professional-quality with a minimum of hassle.
Videoconv is a shell-based frontend to mjpeg-tools, transcode, vcdimager, and cdrdao. This script converts AVI videos to VCD, SVCD, or DivX, and optionally burn them to CD. There are many optional parameters which can be used to adjust the video quality. The script was designed to allow even unexperienced users to convert video into the format they want by using free tools. It supports decoding only AVIs with MJPEG/PCM.
MP3 STATION is a LIRC-aware, plain-text tool set for managing MP3 playback in a car or home with as little user interaction as possible. It can restart the last playlist at the last played track/frame, transparently load directories, transparently recompile playlists, and keep a repository of all the playlists. It also has two simple clients for communicating with cm3s (a curses console client and a very basic one on a parallel port). All programs run under a non-privileged user account.
