dudl is a collection of tools to grab, encode, and rename MP3 files, archive them, and maintain a database of all files. On top of this runs the dudld Jukebox daemon that plays your files through gstreamer. dudld's strengths are the powerful tag based filters, the capability to cope with very large collections, and the network protocol to control its operation. There is a full featured command-line client, a minimalistic GTK client, and a lirc client. Writing new clients should be easy with the supplied client libraries.

genmpeg.pl is a Perl script that generates a simple MPEG-2 program stream file, which consists of a single customizable image repeated in all the video frames, and two simple sine wave sounds in the two audio channels. Both PAL and NTSC and many aspect ratios are supported. The generated MPEG-2 file is suitable for direct DVD authoring with dvdauthor, without the need for reencoding. ffmpeg is required.

TiVo File Decoder software converts a .TiVo file (produced by the TiVoToGo functionality on recent TiVo software releases) to a normal MPEG file. This has the same functionality as using TiVo's supplied DirectShow DLL on Windows with a tool such as DirectShowDump, but is portable to different architectures and operating systems, and runs on the command line using files or pipes. The conversion still requires the valid MAK of the TiVo which recorded the file, so it cannot be used to circumvent their protection, simply to provide the same level of access as is already available on Windows.

w2otk is a front end to oggenc. Its purpose is to easily batch-convert a whole album in WAV format to ogg format. It allows setting album-wide options like quality, genre, and artist name. One can then choose which songs to encode and under which name to save them.

mp3togo is a command line tool for creating sets of low bit-rate MP3 or Ogg Vorbis files for use on a portable player. It reads MP3, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, m4a, and WAV files, decodes and normalizes the file, and then encodes the file in the desired output type. This makes large archives of music compatible with generic portable players no matter what formats exist in the archive. The smaller, disposable files produced can be stored at a greater density on small capacity portable devices. Files can be specified on the command line or read from m3u files or a running instance of XMMS or Amarok. A cluster mode distributes the transcoding to local LAN nodes.
