OpticalRayTracer analyzes systems of lenses. It uses optical principles and a virtual optical bench to predict the behavior of many kinds of ordinary and exotic lens types. It includes an easy-to-use interface that allows the user to rearrange the optical configuration by simply dragging lenses around using the mouse. It fully analyzes lens optical properties, including refraction and dispersion. The dispersion display uses color-coded light beams to simplify interpretation of the results.
Linguistic Tree Constructor is an application for drawing linguistic syntax trees. Its main strength is assisting in data production by quickly analyzing large amounts of text. "Generic" trees are supported, as well as RRG and X-Bar trees. Node-categories are user-definable, and additional user-definable labels can also be applied to each node. Publication-quality, high-resolution, horizontal trees can be drawn. The file format is based on TIGER-XML.
ReadingBug is a designed to help in memorizing words, spelling, mathematics, and other things. ReadingBug may look like just another flash card program, but it can do much more. The program will track the progress of the student in a simple HTML table that can be imported into other programs for further evaluation. The program is fully configurable. Sounds and graphics are left in a simple format, allowing users to make changes as they see fit.
FenestrOs Edu is a shell script meant to be run on a fresh Mandriva One 2006 installation. It sets up everything that is needed for a LTSP terminal server for schools, including support for existing Windows clients to connect to the server, workstation device and sound support, a proxy server, an iptables based firewall, a ready-to-use intranet, educational software, OpenOffice, and other office productivity software. It has a specially designed graphical interface that catagorizes the software by its use rather than what it is called.
IMathAS (Internet Mathematics Assessment System) is a Web-based math testing and homework system. It is a light course/learning management system and testing system, similar to and inspired by WebWork and WIMS, and similar to textbook-bundled systems like iLrn and MathXL. It requires a browser with MathML and SVG support such as Firefox 1.5 or IE6 with plugins.
Pulga is a program for numerical simulation of dynamical systems. It is designed to provide a way for students and researchers who study dynamical systems to model them on a computer and analyze them numerically without the difficulty of traditional computer programming languages.
