sdelta analyzes two files and outputs the difference. It applies the difference to the first of the original files to construct a bit for bit clone of the second file. It is optimized for use with source tarballs, and also contains sdreq, the client for the Public Patch Repository, PPR. The PPR generates on demand source upgrade and downgrade patches for over a quarter of a million version specific source tarballs. By using sdreq you can acquire new source tarballs from the PPR several times faster and with only 10% of the downloading that you currently do.
WebPack is a shell script for automatically packing Web sites by shrinking them without affecting their functionality or appearance. It is also useful for losslessly shrinking image collections and locating corrupt files. It works by stripping unnecessary information and optimizing the compression of images, and by removing comments/whitespace from HTML, using readily-available tools.
JAVA LZMA SDK provides developers with documentation, source code, and sample code necessary to write software that uses LZMA compression. LZMA is the default and general compression method of the 7z format in the 7-Zip compression program. LZMA provides a high compression ratio and very fast decompression. LZMA is an improved version of the famous LZ77 compression algorithm. It was improved by increasing the maximum compression ratio, keeping high decompression speed, and low memory requirements for decompressing.
Lhasa is a Free Software replacement for the Unix LHA tool, for decompressing .lzh (LHA/LHarc) and .lzs (LArc) archives. The backend for the tool is a library, so it can be reused for other purposes. Lhasa aims to be compatible with as many types of lzh/lzs archives as possible. It also aims to generate the same output as the (non-free) Unix LHA tool, so it will act as a drop-in free replacement.
snappy-c is a C port of the google snappy compressor (http://code.google.com/p/snappy/). The compressor is very fast with a reasonable compression ratio. It is mainly useful for projects that cannot integrate C++ code, but want snappy. It also contains a command line tool, a benchmark, random test code, and a fuzz tester. The compression code supports scather-gather and linear buffers. The scather gather code is ifdefed (-DSG) and can be removed with unifdef.
Python-LZO provides Python bindings for the LZO data compression library. You can access the LZO library from your Python scripts thereby compressing ordinary Python strings. LZO is a portable lossless data compression library written in ANSI C. It offers pretty fast compression and *very* fast decompression. Decompression requires no memory. In addition there are slower compression levels achieving a quite competitive compression ratio while still decompressing at this very high speed.
