In a nutshell, the Network Audio System (NAS) is the audio equivalent of an X display server. It was developed by NCD for playing, recording, and manipulating audio data over a network. Like the X Window System, it uses the client/server model to separate applications from the specific drivers that control audio input and output devices.
RAT is an RTP audio conferencing and streaming application that allows users to particpate in point-to-point and multi-point audio conferences over the Internet. Developing features include multiple sampling rates, mono/stereo, loss concealment, and IPv4/IPv6 support, and both versions feature encryption and run on a range of platforms.
SILC (Secure Internet Live Conferencing) is a protocol which provides secure conferencing services in the Internet. It can be used to send any kind of messages, in addition to normal text messages. This includes multimedia messages like images, video, and audio stream. All messages in the SILC network are encrypted and authenticated, and messages can also be digitally signed. SILC protocol supports AES, SHA-1, PKCS#1, PKCS#3, X.509, OpenPGP, and is being developed in the IETF. The software is delivered as SILC Client for end users, SILC Server for system administrators, and SILC Toolkit for application developers.
Streamripper records MP3, Ogg, AAC, and NSV audio and video files from Shoutcast and Icecast compatible streams. The streams can be recorded as a whole or in individual tracks. Streamripper also features a relay stream, which lets you listen or watch live from multiple clients while recording.
The Two Dimensional Spatialization of Sound package takes a single monaural sound signal and processes it to create a binaural signal that places the source of the sound at a selectable arbitrary place around the listener. The package makes use of a set of HRTF Measurements of a KEMAR Dummy-Head Model created by Bill Gardner and Keith Martin of the MIT Media Lab. The sound spatialization software is ANSI C, and can be ported to any platform which will support the sound I/O requirements. The package also includes an FFT written in well-structured C.
VariCAD is a 3D/2D CAD system for mechanical engineering. In addition to standard tools for 3D modeling and 2D drafting, the CAD system provides tools for sheet metal unbending and crash tests, libraries of standard mechanical parts (ANSI, DIN) and symbols, mechanical part calculations, and tools for working with bills of materials (BOMs) and title blocks. VariCAD supports STEP, STL, IGES, DWG, and DXF file formats.
wApua is a WAP WML browser written in Perl with a Tk user interface. It uses libwww-perl as its backend, has history and cache, and can display most WML tags, including tables and WBMP images. It includes a WBMP to XBM (wbmp2xbm) converter for command line use. It runs under X11 on Linux, BSD, Solaris, and Mac OS X as well as on Windows (both native and under Cygwin with X11). It should also work on other operating systems which are supported by Perl 5.6 or higher and Tk 800 or higher.
Software which extends the functions of Asterisk with end-user Web clients.
