LinuxConsole is a live and modular Linux distribution that can be started from CD/DVD, hard disk, floppy disk, USB disk, or network card (PXE). The use of "console" in the title doesn't mean that it is started in "console" mode, but is meant to symbolize the simplicity of using it. This distribution is as simple to use as a game console: you can start applications without installing them. It is modular: there is a common base (device detection, GUI) and optional modules for multimedia, communication, and servers. The goal is having a very fast startup (less than 20 seconds), very good hardware detection, and many applications available (not just games).
Podget is a simple podcast aggregator optimized for running as a scheduled background job (i.e. cron). It features support for downloading podcasts from RSS and XML feeds, for sorting the podcasts into folders and categories, for importing podcast URLs from iTunes PCAST files and OPML lists, automatic M3U and ASX playlist creation, and automatic cleanup of old podcasts. It also features automatic UTF-16 conversion for podcasts hosted on Windows servers.
Raven's System Stats allows users to collect detailed information about an operating system, including kernel architecture, distro, operating system, kernel version, glibc version, name of login shell, number of CPUs, CPU description, hyperthreading support, CPU MHz, CPU cache, bogomips, used and total RAM, used and total swap, filesystem size and type, uptime, unique users logged in, total login shells, currently running processes, total processes since bootup, load average, X resolution, and the number of X servers running.
BongoSurfer is a least-cost router for Linux, like the Smartsurfer program for Windows. It allows you to connect to the Internet with a 56k modem or ISDN, and chooses the cheapest provider for you. The tariff database is updated every day from http://www.billiger-surfen.de/. Since the tariffs only apply within Germany, the program is of little use in other countries. It features a cost calculator, a traffic monitor, an online timer, and more.
Boule is a user chat Web application. It is based on a modular design to be easily pluggable to other systems. It provides real time interaction by using a Java applet that produces data that feeds the response from an HTTP request running in the background of a separate window. The response is then placed into the Web page through JavaScript.
Qubit (Qmail Ultimate Backend Integration Tool) is a fully Web-based qmail server configuration and administration suite. It is based on the qmailrules qmail server installation style. It has the same features as other similar tools (like vqadmin and qmailadmin), and it also gives you full control to administer your server with all sorts of features and applications.
Dolda Connect is a modular P2P filesharing client built around the Direct Connect model. It supports most of the latest features of the DC protocol. It runs in client/server mode with a well defined protocol, allowing extensibility, flexibility, and multiple detachable user interfaces. It also has an optional multi-user mode.
killppp is a shell script that kills the PPP process after a specified time period of no traffic. This is especially useful for dial-up users who pay per time-unit of being connected. The typical use for it is to start a large download along with killppp and go away. The script will shut down PPP right after the downloading is done, thus saving unnecessary cost of unused network connectivity.
