Weasel Reader is an e-text reader for Palm OS. It is geared towards reading Project Gutenberg e-texts, but will work on any ASCII file. It uses zlib for compression, resulting in good file sizes, an important consideration for Palms. Weasel reads both zTXT (its own format) and PalmDoc files. It includes features such as bookmarks, annotations, categorization, searching, beaming, VFS access, and many display options. Also included is makeztxt, a command line program to generate zTXT databases. makeztxt supports regular expressions to automatically generate a list of bookmarks. Java and Perl/PHP versions of makeztxt are also available.
SyncML is the common language for synchronizing all devices and applications over any network. SyncML leverages eXtensible Markup Language (XML), making SyncML a truly future-proof platform. With SyncML, networked information can be synchronized with any mobile device, and mobile information can be synchronized with any networked applications. SyncML is an open standard.
SMS spoof is a PalmOS application that allows you to send spoofed SMS messages. It uses a dialup connection to an EMI/UCP-compatible SMSC. It can be used with a modem connected to the Palm, such as an IR link to a GSM phone with a built-in modem. SMS spoof has been tested with Telenor's SMSC in Norway, but it should work with any SMSC that supports the EMI/UCP protocol, as long as no authentication is required.
upIRC (formerly apIRC) is a fully RFC-compliant client for Internet Relay Chat (IRC) servers. It includes a full range of features, including DCC chat support, command shortcuts with variables, auto-completion of commands, and a one-tap shortcut for entering nicknames in channels.
jSyncManager is a Java-based data synchronization toolkit for PalmOS handhelds. It consists of a developers API, including a fully Palm-compatible synchronization protocol stack, and a set of end-user applications. It is ideal for use by any individual or organization that needs fast, stable, and easily extendable PalmOS handheld data synchronization that can run on a variety of platforms. It also supports plug-ins, which can be used to add synchronization support to applications, and includes a variety of import and export modes, including XML and CSV.
Dial! offers an easy way to communicate with your GSM mobile phone over the IR-port. It features fast access to numbers stored in the internal addressBook database, the ability to dial numbers quickly over the IR port, to write SMS messages up to 160 characters on your Palm and send them over your mobile, Flash SMS (SMS appears directly on the display of the receiving mobile), SMS report, store SMS in the outbox of your mobile, save SMS in the Palm Memopad after sending, and an optional provider database.
USB-TCP Bridge bridges communications between a Palm handheld connected with a USB cradle and a TCP/IP socket. It can be used, for example, with the GDB debugger (which normally connects to the Palm OS Emulator on TCP/IP port 2000) to debug on a Palm handheld instead of debugging on the Palm OS emulator. It can also be used to connect the Unix-based pilot-link synchronization tools to a Palm handheld on Mac OS X. There are many more features, like support for packaged redistribution with predefined settings, etc.
