The Java Engine for Testing (JET) is a system for running distributed automated tests. It has been used by Sun for testing the High Availability DataBase (HADB), JavaDB, PostgreSQL, Memcached, and the MySQL Cluster Manager. JET should be a good way to write your tests if the product you want to test is distributed or has a client/server architecture, if it is natural for you to write the tests in Java, and if you want to invest time in developing tests and abstractions for later reuse.
Maxi80 is an iPhone and iPod Touch application for listening to Maxi80.com, a French eighties music Web radio. OpenDJ is an LDAPv3 compliant directory server written for the Java platform. Fully featured, it provides a high performance, highly available, and secure store for the identities managed by enterprises. OpenDJ is a continuation of the OpenDS project initiated by Sun Microsystems.
OpenAM provides core identity services to simplify the implementation of transparent single sign-on (SSO) as a security component in a network infrastructure. It provides the foundation for integrating diverse Web applications that might typically operate against a disparate set of identity repositories and are hosted on a variety of platforms such as Web and application servers.
Government Sanctioned is a custom-developed text-based RPG (i.e., MUD). New players enter the world of Government Sanctioned as covert agents working for a super-secretive government organization colloquially known as "the agency". Players have a choice of six different roles spanning 19 unique professions. Whether you like stealthy, clandestine operations, the use of subterfuge and guile to infiltrate enemy organizations, or full-blown military actions, the agency has a spot for you. Players are empowered to deeply customize their character through numerous differentiation mechanisms. Character backgrounds lay the foundation for character abilities and are further defined through their cover occupation and agency department affiliation. To put a fine point on character customization, the skill and feat system provides an extensive array of options to tweak the character to suit your style of game play. The skill system boasts over 35 different skill families with around 50 different skills and checks. Skill points are gained upon professional level advancement and can be spent any way the player chooses. With 19 feat trees and over a hundred diverse feats (with new feats being added regularly), your capability for customization is endless.
μnix is an open source DIY hardware and software project that endeavors to create a complete, usable, computer workstation using only discrete components, IC chips, and 8-bit microcontrollers. The electronic design, including the schematics and PCB layout, is open and usable by anyone. In addition, the necessary firmware for all of the ancillary microcontrollers is provided, including the advanced firmware acting as the Operating System on the main CPU units. The goal is not to try to create a competing product with any of the x86 computers out there, but instead to learn and teach the very low-level information and skills needed to create a complete workstation from scratch, starting from the circuit boards and ending with the multitasking OS. The project is open to anyone that wants to contribute or even just be involved in some way with a project of this scope and innovation.
