libGlass is a scalable set of components that can be used by applications to perform distributed computing. Applications are built by reusing the available components as needed. One of the major goals of Glass is to be a user-friendly framework, not only suitable for new applications, but also for legacy code. This is an important feature, as most available solutions for distributed computing require a substantial amount of rewrite of legacy code.

m23 is a software deployment system for Debian GNU/Linux that allows you to install and administrate hundreds of clients via network. It can partition and format clients and install Debian, (K/X)Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Fedora, OpenSuse, and CentOS operating systems on your virtual and physical clients. Group functions allow the comfortable update and installation of further packages during operation. Mass installation functions simplify your administration chores. m23 has a Web interface. Backup functions are implemented for server and clients.

mmrun is a simple tool to distribute a list of computing jobs over a cluster of machines. It uses MPI to start jobs on the clients and monitor their progress (but does not require the clients to use MPI in any way). The status of all jobs can be monitored at any time by pointing a Web browser at the built-in Web server.

mod_backhand is a load balancing module for Apache. It provides per-request HTTP redirection within a heterogeneous Apache server cluster. Each request is processed and run through a set of "candidacy functions" to determine which server is best suited to respond. The request is then proxied to that server. Facilities are in place to allow you to write your own dynamically loadable decision making algorithms. Everything about the request and the current availability of resources can be used in the decision-making process.

Multixterm creates multiple xterms that can be driven together or separately. It can be used to login via SSH to multiple hosts and control them simultaneously, or for ad hoc things where you want to see the results as you type. Each xterm may also be driven separately. Multixterm is scriptable so that you can easily fire up, for example, a dozen xterms with a single command, tiled nicely on your screen. In addition to SSH, multixterm can drive rlogin, telnet, passwd, or any program that runs in an xterm.

nmdb is a network database (dbm-style) that can use multiple protocols to communicate with its clients. TIPC, TCP, UDP, and SCTP are currently supported. It consists of an in-memory cache that saves (key, value) pairs, and a persistent backend that stores the pairs on disk. Both work in combination, but the use of the backend is optional, so you can use the server only for cache queries, pretty much like memcached.
