PMS/PyPubSub (short for Python Message Service / Python based Publish Subscribe) is a framework for implementing a publish subscribe mechanism into a Python application. A python process somewhere in the network publishes one or more topics which consist of Python objects. Multiple processes in the network can subscribe to fresh updates of the published topics. A publisher and its subsribers are fully decoupled. The datatype of a topic can be freely defined and changed at runtime. New publishers and subscribers can easily be added at runtime.
Fluffy Linux Cluster will create a "virtual IP address" shared between two or more machines on the same shared segment (i.e. LAN). TCP-based services running will be automatically load-balanced between the available machines. No dedicated "load balancer" is required, and failed nodes will be detected automatically and taken out of the cluster until they are fixed.
DynaStop is a utility to examine IPv4 based addresses for Exim and procmail for the purpose of filtering based upon patterns defined by the administrator. This can be a pivotal factor in email filtering and server load management, since dynamic IP addresses are typically used for dial-up, DHCP, and DSL accounts. All of which have a designated mail exchange server through which all outbound mail flows as defined with many, if not most, large Internet service providers.
GLB is a user-space TCP load balancer similar to Pen. It lacks most advanced Pen features, as the aim was to make a user-space TCP proxy that is as fast as possible. It can utilize multiple CPU cores. A list of destinations can be adjusted in runtime. Destination "draining" is supported. It supports "least connected", "round-robin", "random", and "source tracking" balancing policies.
The ATA over Ethernet Tools are intended for use in conjunction with an ATA over Ethernet (AoE) driver for a Linux 2.6 kernel, called "aoe". The tools perform simple tasks like listing available devices, triggering device discovery, and restricting the network interfaces on which AoE is performed.
Tsung is a distributed load testing tool. It is protocol-independent and can currently be used to stress HTTP, WebDAV, PostgreSQL, MySQL, LDAP, AMQP, and XMPP/Jabber servers. It simulates user behavior using an XML description file, reports many measurements in real time (statistics can be customized with transactions, and graphics generated using gnuplot). For HTTP, it supports 1.0 and 1.1, has a proxy mode to record sessions, supports GET, POST, PUT, and DELETE methods, cookies, and basic/digest authentication. It also has support for SSL, WebSocket, and BOSH.
Makeflow is a workflow engine for executing large complex applications on clusters, clouds, and grids. It can be used to drive several different distributed computing systems, including Condor, SGE, and the included Work Queue system. It does not require a distributed filesystem, so you can use it to harness whatever collection of machines you have available. It is typically used for scaling up data-intensive scientific applications to hundreds or thousands of cores.
Galera wsrep provider is a dlopenable generic replication library which implements the wsrep provider API. It provides very efficient synchronous replication, and multi-master and "parallel applying" capabilities for opaque data buffers. Its primary focus is data consistency. A transaction is either committed on every node, or not at all. It works anywhere TCP works, including on WAN, and can utilize UDP multicast where available. It is used by the MySQL-wsrep patch project to create true multi-master MySQL/InnoDB clusters.
The Cell Messaging Layer is a communication library for clusters of Cell Broadband Engine processors. It implements a subset of the popular MPI message-passing API on the Cell's SPE processors, with one MPI rank per SPE across any number of Cells and the ability for any SPE to communicate directly with any other SPE, even across a network. The Cell Messaging Layer thereby makes programming clusters of Cell processors similar to programming clusters of conventional CPUs.
