Supybot is a clearly-written Python IRC framework and bot, intended to be both easily extensible and very flexible. Several modules are included by default. Numerous plugins are already written, including Google, Factoids, RSS, Quotes, and Relay. Plugins and their commands achieve greater utility via command nesting, something that no other IRC bot does. The user database is based on "capabilities" rather than obscure flags or arbitrary numeric "userlevels", giving the bot flexibility and fine-grained control (think ACLs vs. standard *nix permissions). Developing your own additions to the bot is simple with the base classes provided; writing a new command for the bot is as simple as writing a function. Unlike many other IRC frameworks, this simplicity is achieved at no cost to generality, which lets new programmers and old programmers alike feel at home in the framework.
Designed for the Bahamut, Hybrid, and ircu IRCds, bopm is a replacement for first generation proxy monitors (wgmon, tcm). It extends them by adding support for SOCKS4, SOCKS5, WinGate, HTTP proxies, insecure Cisco routers, HTTP POST proxies, simultaneous connections, and a more scalable model (written in C). BOPM also has support for a DNS blacklist, similar to MAPS RBL+ or Visi RSL.
blueflops is a two-floppy Linux distribution with a graphical Web browser (links) and an IRC client (rhapsody). The kernel has most of the Ethernet drivers compiled in as modules (including the PCMCIA ones) and PPP support (for dialup connections). The browser is linked with OpenSSL. The scripts are all accessible by a setup script and have a nice dialog frontend.
JForum is complete, powerful, database-independent, and multi-threaded forum software. Features include unlimited forums and categories, topic watching, email notification, private messages, user ranking, an advanced permission schema, and moderation options. It provides support for many languages and customizable templates per user.
psyced is a distributed chat and messaging system based on the Protocol for SYnchronous Conferencing. PSYC is multicast and routed between servers and clients in a scalable and efficient way, but users can also comfortably use IRC clients, telnet, Web chat, WAP, or Jabber to enter the network. psyced also communicates with the network of Jabber/XMPP servers and hosts programmable chat rooms for all of these technologies at once. It also provides gateways to several IRC networks, but unlike IRC, everyone can run a server and be an equal member of the PSYC network. It supports PSYC, XMPP, IRC, TELNET, HTTP, Applet, SMTP, WAP, XML, RSS, and TLS.
Konversation is a simple and easy-to-use IRC client built on the KDE platform with support for SSL connections, strikeout, multi-channel joins, away/unaway messages, ignore list functionality, full Unicode support, the ability to auto-connect to a server, optional timestamps in chat windows, configurable background colors, and much more.
