mp3Rip is yet another MP3 ripper. This one requires very little user intervention--you just have to insert the CD and start the program. It rips the songs as quickly as possible so another CD can be started while other CDs are being compressed. It also organizes MP3s using CDDB information, and it can recover from errors with minimal wasted effort.
crip is a terminal-based ripper/encoder/tagger tool for creating Ogg Vorbis files (or MP3 files for crip 1.X) under Unix/Linux. It is well-suited for someone seeking to make a lot of Ogg/MP3 files from CDs and have them all properly labeled and professional-quality with a minimum of hassle.
ova is a convenient console frontend for ripping CDs and encoding MP3 and wave files to the Ogg Vorbis format. It is also able to query the CDDB given a CD (or saved CD discid) or several MP3/Ogg Vorbis/wave files (very useful for downloaded albums). Ogg Vorbis files can be tagged and renamed according to elaborate patterns.
T.E.A.R. (pronounced Tair) is a console-based frontend for common MP3/OGG creation tools which automates all of the settings involved in ripping and encoding a CD. TEAR uses the CDDB database at freedb.org to name, organize, and add ID3 tags to each encoded file. It can use either cdparanoia or cdda2wav to rip .WAV files from the CD and it can use lame, bladeenc, gogo, or OggEnc to encode them. TEAR also supports SMP.
MP3-CD-Sleeve is composed of two Perl scripts that produce HTML or LaTeX-style pages that can be printed as the index sleeve of an (MP3) CD. It briefly lists the directory hierarchy, by enumerating directories for ease of use in MP3 CD players. The LaTeX script tries to fit everything in a 5" x 5" (12.5cm x 12.5 cm) frame with wrap-around at the edges (no fold-out feature is included yet, it produces just the front cover).
CDDB.py provides an easy way for Python programs to fetch track and disc information on audio CDs. This information is acquired from CDDB, a very large online database of track listings and other information on audio CDs. Included is a C extension module to enable Python to read track listings from audio CDs under Linux, Solaris, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, and Win32. The interface to this extension module is portable and is intended to be ported to other OSes easily.
Rippix is a fork of ripperX, a fast and easy to use CD ripper. While ripperX does a good job of ripping and encoding songs from a CD, it uses a rather outdated user interface. Rippix tries to fill this gap. This includes porting Rippix to GTK+ 3. Additionally, a lot of deprecated code will be rewritten and documentation will be added. The reason for a fork is that after some hacking on the ripperX code, it appeared that more modifications were necessary in order to port to GTK+ 3 conveniently than what could be appreciable by ripperX devs, like removing all the XPM images (including the logo) from the UI.
