Xmcd is a full-featured CD player and ripper software suite including xmcd and cda. Both utilities transform your CD drive into a stereo CD player, allowing you to play music CDs on your computer, as well as perform digital audio extraction (DAE) into files or streams of various formats. Multi-disc CD changers are also supported on many platforms. Xmcd features CDDB disc recognition, web browser integration for content related to the playing CD, local discography management, full feature-specific help system, remote control capability, and more.
xmms-shn is an input plugin to play shorten (.shn) files in XMMS. It supports real-time seeking via the seek extensions built into shorten 3.x. Shorten is an audio compression format developed by SoftSound, and is used extensively in the distribution of losslessly-compressed live music.
YaRET is a Perl script that automates the ripping, normalization, and encoding of CDs. It supports CDDB very well via the Perl Audio::CD module, and also can work with your favorite ripper/normalizer/encoder (e.g., cdparanoia, cdda2wav, normalize, etc.) It supports useful features like multiple concurrent encoders and an easy to use configuration file that lets you customize YaRET to your taste (such as file naming based on the CDDB information).
Distributed MP3/Ogg Encoder is a distributed MP3/Ogg encoder/ripper front-end. To use this you run one script to rip a CD into .wav files, and you run the other one on as many computers as you have. This second script examines the .wav files, encodes them, and writes them out as .mp3 or .ogg files. It has FreeDB support. Requires a ripper program, an encoder program, and a few Perl modules.
The One Ripper is a program for ripping and encoding MP3 files from CDs. It has many advanced features, including background encoding, as well as queuing of files to be encoded, ID3v1 and ID3v2 tagging, CDDB for track naming, easy renaming of tracks from CDDB (to make dealing with multi-artist CDs easier), flexible file naming, a choice of multiple encoders (LAME, Oggenc, BladeEnc, and Gogo), and a choice of multiple rippers (cdparanoia, cdda2wav, and dagrab). It includes some MP3 utilites for stripping ID3v1 & ID3v2 tags, retagging files based upon file name, and creating band & album directories & playlists.
tocgen is a versatile command line cdrdao toc file generator, written in Python, of particular use to those wishing to split tapes and LPs into tracks. The ability to split a wav file into regular sized tracks with little effort is what most distinguishes tocgen from tocmake and wavtoc. It was written with a view towards clarity and therefore should be easy to modify, if necessary.
