The Advanced Linux Sound Architecture is composed of several parts. The first is a fully modularized sound driver which supports module autoloading, devfs, isapnp autoconfiguration, and gives complete access to analog audio, digital audio, control, mixer, synthesizer, DSP, MIDI, and timer components of audio hardware. It also includes a fully-featured kernel-level sequencer, a full compatibility layer for OSS/Free applications, an object-oriented C library which covers and enhances the ALSA kernel driver functionality for applications (client/server, plugins, PCM sharing/multiplexing, PCM metering, etc.), an interactive configuration program for the driver, and some simple utilities for basic management.
The CDDB/CDDB_get Perl module gets the CDDB info for an audio CD. The included script was intended as a demo for CDDB_get, but over time it has gained powerful features like the ability to write to a database, offline mode, HTTP mode (including proxy), saving in standard XMCD format, and writing 'lame' commands.
GrypPhon focuses on adding new features to the old concept of a CD player, while maintaining extreme configurability. It is written purely in Python and contains a Linux CD-ROM audio library for Python containing all normal CD-playing features, plus volume control and skipping/searching.
This library implements a general-purpose encoder/decoder for Reed-Solomon error correcting codes. The decoder supports erasures. The user can specify the parameters for any size code, limited only by machine resources. Hard-coded routines for the CCSDS-standard (255,223) code are also included.
The MusicBrainz client library (also known as mb_client or libmusicbrainz) is a library for developers that wish to add MusicBrainz metadata lookup capabilities to their applications. It calculates CD Index IDs and Relatable's acoustic fingerprints, and looks up the metadata associated with the calculated IDs.
The GNU Compact Disc Input and Control library encapsulates CD-ROM reading and control for applications wishing to be oblivious to the OS- and device-dependent properties of a CD-ROM. It provides an API for access to SCSI-MMC (multimedia commands) and support for CD image types like BIN/CUE, cdrdao's TOC, and Nero's NRG, which gives applications using the library the ability to read disc images as though they were CDs. ISO-9660 filesystem support is included, as are utility programs for displaying CD and CD-ROM drive information, reading the blocks of a CD, and extracting files from an ISO-9660 filesytem image. cdparanoia is also included.
Mp3tag is an Objective-Caml library for reading and writing ID3v1 and v2 tags in MP3 files. It includes mp3tag tools, which can be used to modify tags in MP3 files or rename files according to their tags, and a cddbtag tool that modifies tags by using a CDDB server to retrieve information about the track.
PostScript::CDCover generates a Postscript program that prints a CD cover and backlabel, with contents displayed as a tree of directories and files. The module ships with a stand-alone, ready-to-use script, pscdcover, that takes the directory tree of a CD-ROM as input and generates a cover from it. The output can be directly fed to a PostScript printer, but it is designed to be easily editable (should one wish to remove unwanted directory entries, for example).
python-musicbrainz2 provides simple, object oriented access to the MusicBrainz Web service. The MusicBrainz Project (see http://musicbrainz.org) provides music metadata maintained by its large and constantly growing user community. This package helps you to write CD ripper applications, taggers, and media players by giving easy access to music metadata.
