KScannerButtons is a daemon plus an optional KDE frontend for monitoring your scanner buttons so that actions can be taken in response to button presses. It's composed of a daemon (sanebuttond), a frontend that will display an icon in the systray, and a dialog box to configure and launch the daemon. It is based on the button monitoring capabilities found in some SANE backends. It has been tested with the avision backend and an HP 5300C scanner. The frontend requires Kommander (kde-webdev).
Picasa is Google's photo organizer. It makes it easy to find, edit, and share digital photos. It automatically locates and remembers all pictures and sorts them into visual albums organized by date with recognizable folder names. You can drag and drop to arrange albums and make labels to create new groups. This Linux version mostly has the same features as the Windows version, and is based on a modified version of Wine.
iShowU is software to capture and record video from your screen into a Quicktime movie in real-time. Create tutorials, make a demo for the Web, record your favorite game, collaborate on UI design, or show tech support what's really going on with that broken program. It allows you to capture and record anything you can see on your screen, along with audio from any compatible source.
