Xfce Embed Plugin enables the embedding of arbitrary application windows into the Xfce panel. The window is resized into the panel space available, and the associated program can be automatically launched if it is not open. Example uses include embedding an instant messaging buddy list, a mail client's new mail ticker, a simple media application, or a fancy clock or timer. Combining with Xfce's ability to auto-hide panels can make this very convenient.

PRoot is a user-space implementation of "chroot", "mount --bind", and "binfmt_misc". This means that users don't need any privileges or setup to do things like using an arbitrary directory as the new root filesystem, making files accessible somewhere else in the filesystem hierarchy, or executing programs built for another CPU architecture transparently through QEMU user mode. Also, developers can add their own features or use PRoot as a Linux process instrumentation engine thanks to its extension mechanism. Technically, PRoot relies on "ptrace", an unprivileged system call available in every Linux kernel.

Netzob supports the expert in reverse engineering, evaluation, and simulation of communication protocols. Its main goals are to help security evaluators to assess the robustness of proprietary or unknown protocol implementations, simulate realistic communications to test third-party products (IDS, firewalls, etc.), and create an Open Source implementation of a proprietary or unknown protocol. Netzob provides a semi-automatic inferring process, and includes everything necessary to passively learn the vocabulary of a protocol and actively infer its grammar. The learnt protocol can afterward be simulated. Netzob handles text protocols (like HTTP and IRC), fixed field protocols (like IP and TCP), and variable field protocols (like ASN.1-based formats).

statsmodels is a Python package which provides a complement to scipy for statistical computations, including descriptive statistics and estimation of statistical models. The main included model categories are linear, discrete, generalized linear, and robust linear, and, in time series analysis, AR, ARMA, and VAR. It also includes statistical tests mainly for regression diagnostics. statsmodels was renamed from scikits.statsmodels.

AeonWave-OpenAL is a thin OpenAL emulation layer that uses AeonWave to create one of the fastest rendering OpenAL implementations available. OpenAL is a cross-platform 3D audio API appropriate for use with gaming applications and many other types of audio applications. Its API style and conventions deliberately resemble those of OpenGL.

Embedded GLIBC (EGLIBC) is a variant of the GNU C Library (GLIBC) which is designed to work well on embedded systems. It strives to be source- and binary-compatible with GLIBC. EGLIBC's goals include a reduced footprint, configurable components, and better support for cross-compilation and cross-testing.

mod_entropy is an Apache module that creates random numbers from incoming requests. It uses the Linux RNDADDENTROPY ioctl. Because user interactions with a Web server are random through time, this information is used to fill the kernel's random pool.

SSLsplit is a tool that performs man-in-the-middle attacks against SSL/TLS encrypted network connections for network forensics and penetration testing. It terminates SSL/TLS and initiates a new connection to the original destination, logging all data transmitted. It supports plain TCP and SSL, HTTP and HTTPS, and IPv4 and IPv6. For SSL and HTTPS, it generates and signs forged X509v3 certificates on-the-fly using the original certificate's subject DN and subjectAltName extension. It supports Server Name Indication, RSA, DSA, and ECDSA keys, and DHE and ECDHE cipher suites. It can also use existing certificates if the private key is available.

parkverbot is a daemon that prevents hard disk head parking in rotational media. Modern rotational hard disks have a misfeature involving the regular automatic unloading of the heads, measurable by the SMART attribute "Load_Cycle_Count". This causes latency on wake-up amongst other issues (and it cannot always be turned off). The parkverbot daemon will periodically issue small read requests in order to keep the hardware from going to its head-unloaded idle state.
