(Serial Ports on) Steroids enables users to execute remote C functions in a Python shell over a serial interface. It is useful for embedded system testing and industrial automation. It generates C code for the target and a Python script for the host automatically from a C header file.
APBS is a software package for the numerical solution of the Poisson-Boltzmann equation (PBE), one of the most popular continuum models for describing electrostatic interactions between molecular solutes in salty, aqueous media. Continuum electrostatics plays an important role in several areas of biomolecular simulation, including simulation of diffusional processes to determine ligand-protein and protein-protein binding kinetics, implicit solvent molecular dynamics of biomolecules, solvation and binding energy calculations to determine ligand-protein and protein-protein equilibrium binding constants and aid in rational drug design, and biomolecular titration studies.
ASCEND is an interactive environment for modeling, debugging, and solving large systems of nonlinear algebraic or differential equations. Oriented towards chemical engineering applications, it includes a large Open Source thermodynamic properties database. The interactive design allows users to inspect and solve very difficult nonlinear systems. It includes plotting abilities and is scriptable using both Python and Tcl/Tk.
ASpiReNN is a little C library (with Python bindings) which provides support for simple (leaky integrate-and-fire) spiking neural networks. It is primarily designed for highly recurrent networks, but it can also be used with multi-layer nets, though performance won't be the same. Though only Leaky integrate-and-fire (for the neurons) and Spike-Timing Dependent Plasticity (for learning rules) are currently implemented, adding new models shouldn't be too difficult.
ACOPOST is a set of freely available POS taggers modeled after well-known techniques. The programs are written in C (aiming for extreme portability and code correctness/safety) and run under various Unix flavors (and probably even under Windows). ACOPOST currently consists of four taggers that are based on different frameworks: Maximum Entropy Tagger (MET), Trigram Tagger (T3, based on Hidden Markov Models), Error-driven Transformation-based Tagger (TBT or Brill Tagger), and Example-based tagger (ET).
Akeni Web Chat is an IM system designed for universal accessibility and ease of deployment. With its browser-based client, there is no need to install any client side software. It is also firewall friendly and can be used whenever you have access to a Web browser. The rich client supports chat, notification, and conferencing. It also allows your staff to provide real time sales information and technical support to your customer using a simple Web-based interface.
