MUSCLE (Multi User Server Client Linking Environment) is an N-way messaging server and networking API. It includes client-side networking APIs for various languages, including C, C++, C#, Delphi, Java, and Python. MUSCLE lets programs communicate over a network via streams of serialized Message objects. The included server program ("muscled") lets its clients message each other and store information in its server-side hierarchical database. The database supports flexible queries via hierarchical wildcarding, and "live" updates via a subscription mechanism.
XMLUnit provides assertions and supporting class libraries to test various properties of generated pieces of XML using a popular testing framework. It supports finding the differences between two pieces of XML, validating documents against DTDs or XML Schemas, testing the results of XPath expressions, or asserting properties of Nodes exposed via DOM traversal. Two branches exist: one that supports Java and JUnit and one that supports the .NET Framework and NUnit.
Virtual Token Descriptor for eXtensible Markup Language (VTD-XML) refers to a collection of efficient XML processing technologies centered around a non-extractive XML parsing technique called Virtual Token Descriptor (VTD). Depending on the perspective, VTD-XML can be viewed as either an XML parser, a native XML indexer or a file format that uses binary data to enhance the text XML, an incremental XML content modifier, an XML slicer/splitter/assembler, or an XML editor/eraser.
db4o is an object database for Java and all .NET environments. Its features include ACID transactions, automatic class schema recognition, query-by-example, a S.O.D.A. object querying API, native queries, LINQ support on .NET, callback methods, memory files, cascade-on-delete, multi-threaded access, and Java Webstart and servlet support.
Piccolo2D is a toolkit that supports the development of 2D structured graphics programs, in general, and Zoomable User Interfaces (ZUIs), in particular. A ZUI is a new kind of interface that presents a huge canvas of information on a traditional computer display by letting the user smoothly zoom in to get more detailed information and zoom out for an overview. It uses a "scene-graph" model that is common to 3D environments. This means that Piccolo maintains a hierarchical structure of objects and cameras.
SDE for Eclipse is a UML modeling environment tightly integrated with Eclipse IDE. It lets you draw all types of UML diagrams (use case diagrams, class diagrams, component diagrams, etc.) in Eclipse, reverse source code (Java, C++, XML, XML Schema, CORBA IDL, etc.) to UML models, and generate Java source from UML diagrams. It features the latest UML notation support, a Rational Rose importer, an XMI importer, Microsoft Visio integration, HTML/PDF documentation generators, and plug-in and template support.
Ice is a modern alternative to object middleware such as CORBA or COM/DCOM/COM+. It is easy to learn, yet provides a powerful network infrastructure for demanding technical applications. It features an object-oriented specification language, easy to use C++ and Java mappings, a highly efficient protocol (including protocol compression), asynchronous method invocation and dispatch, dynamic transport plug-ins, TCP/IP and UDP/IP support, SSL-based security, a firewall solution, and much more.
Spring is a lightweight Java/J2EE application framework based on code published in "Expert One-on-One J2EE Design and Development" by Rod Johnson. It includes powerful JavaBeans-based configuration management applying Inversion-of-Control principles, a generic abstraction layer for transaction management allowing for pluggable transaction managers, a JDBC abstraction layer, integration with Hibernate, JDO, Apache OJB, and iBATIS SQL Maps, AOP functionality, and a flexible MVC Web application framework with multiple view technologies. There is also a .NET port available.
Light-Weight Visual Components Library (LwVCL) is a powerful, small, fast, efficient, framework of visual components that provides a rich set of customizable, flexible user interface components. There are versions for J2SE/J2ME Personal Profile, J2ME MIDP, .NET, and SWT. This provides a unified GUI framework for different platforms that provides the same API, the same concepts, and the same look and feel.
