Xerces C++ is a validating XML parser written in a portable subset of C++. The parser was designed with high performance, modularity, and scalability in mind. It provides DOM, SAX, and SAX2 APIs and supports validation of XML documents against DTD and W3C XML schema.

Pathan is an XPath processing library. It is written in C++, and uses the Xerces-C DOM XML Parser by the Apache Foundation. The Pathan project incorporates Pathan 1, implementing the W3C XPath 1 recommendation, and Pathan 2, implementing the W3C XPath 2 draft specification.
