Amberfish is a general purpose text/XML retrieval utility. It features indexing of both free text and nested fields, built-in support for XML documents, structured queries allowing generalized field/tag paths, hierarchical result sets, automatic searching across multiple databases, efficient indexing, and relatively low memory requirements.
Spinneret is a structured storage engine that can be thought of as an extended tuple storage system. It takes the best aspects of relational, object, and hierarchical databases and throws away the dead weight associated with those technologies. The benefit of Spinneret is that its data model is incredibly flexible, allowing it to expose its underlying data in any number of ways. It operates similar to an object database, but without hard ties to an originating language, and can also behave like a relational database without the burden of complex joins.
pv (Pipe Viewer) is a terminal-based tool for monitoring the progress of data through a pipeline. It can be inserted into any normal pipeline between two processes to give a visual indication of how quickly data is passing through, how long it has taken, how near to completion it is, and an estimate of how long it will be until completion.
GPGlist is a Perl script to implement gpg encrypted alias lists in a mail server such as Sendmail or Postfix. It uses one XML config file to store information about lists. It backs up messages if an error occours, and sends out error messages to the sender of the mail. You can decide whether or not a list only accepts encrypted messages.
Hiawatha is a secure and advanced Web server for Unix. It has been written with security as its main goal. It features advanced access control, prevention of SQL injection and cross-site scripting, banning of clients who try such exploits, the ability to run CGIs under any UID/GID you want, and many other features. These features make Hiawatha an interesting Web server for those who need more security than what the other available Web servers are offering. Hiawatha is also fast and easy to configure.
cerberus is a modular and robust network operator and drone monitoring service designed to protect IRC networks from common threats that plague the community. It uses a BIND9-style configuration file with a mix of Perl syntax. It includes a map module that displays a server map along with basic information, stats/protocol for core protocol support, sql, an interface to DBI, modcontrol for controlling modules in use via IRC, login, operlist for displaying a list of all operators on the network, and more. It was designed for use with pure TS6 networks such as ircd-ratbox and ircd-hybrid.
The OpenSSH daemon commonly has its own security feature called privilege separation and hence it is not designed to work with chroot. This patch runs the OpenSSH daemon itself chrooted to the jail. The chroot is called only after the keys are loaded, so you can store your private keys and sshd_config outside the chroot jail. Once the keys are loaded, sshd runs chrooted.
MultiTail lets you view one or multiple files like the original tail program. The difference is that it creates multiple windows on your console (with ncurses). Merging of 2 or more log files is possible. It can also use colors while displaying the log files (through regular expressions) for faster recognition of what is important. It can also filter lines (again with regular expressions). It has interactive menus for editing given regular expressions and deleting and adding windows. One can also have windows with the output of shell scripts and other software. When viewing the output of external software, MultiTail can mimic the functionality of tools like 'watch'.
