copymon provides file copying processes with a progress bar. Neither cp nor rsync provide means to monitor the copying process, nor a progress bar. copymon is a wrapper which performs a scan of the directory to be copied and collects information about the files to be copied. After that, it spawns the actual copying program (which can be cp, rsync, or tar) and monitors its progress. copymon can be easily enhanced to support more programs and can be extended to provided different types of progress bars.

The KoreLogic Expression Language Library (libklel) is a C library that provides a simple expression language that can be embedded in other programs. It does not implement a full programming language, but rather a simpler expression language called KL-EL that is designed to provide arithmetic and logic operations in situations where embedding a full programming language would be overkill. KL-EL can access functions and variables exported from the embedding program, and is statically and strongly typed, which helps ensure that expressions are valid before they are executed. The embedding API is easy to use, and the library itself is very small.

While the OSS community converges to Git, with the Python bunch branching to Mercurial, the typical workplace is stuck with Subversion. The author's DVCS of choice is Fossil. These are all fine projects, with their own pros and cons, but what you usually want is just a tool to store your code tree snapshot in a safe place. They can all do that, but their language differs a tiny bit. repo brings them all down to the common root. It works by detecting which VCS are you using right now and calling that, applying necessary subcommand translation if needed.

fdm (fetch and deliver mail) is a simple, lightweight replacement for mail fetching, filtering, and delivery programs such as fetchmail and procmail. It can fetch using POP3, POP3S, IMAP, IMAPS, or stdin, and deliver to a pipe, file, maildir, mbox, or SMTP server, based on a set of regexps. It can be used for both single user and multiuser setups, and is designed with privilege separation when running as root.

ANTLR (ANother Tool for Language Recognition) is a language tool that provides a framework for constructing recognizers, compilers, and translators from grammatical descriptions containing C++, Java, or Sather actions. It is similar to the popular compiler generator YACC, however ANTLR is much more powerful and easy to use. ANTLR-produced parsers are not only highly efficient, but are both human-readable and human-debuggable (especially with the interactive ParseView debugging tool). ANTLR can generate parsers, lexers, and tree-parsers in either C++, Java, or Sather. ANTLR is currently written in Java.

OpenSimulator is a multi-platform, multi-user 3D distributed virtual environment platform. Out of the box, it can be used to simulate virtual environments similar to that of Second Life. These can be used as social virtual worlds or for specific applications such as education, training, and visualization. Access is via the regular Second Life open-source viewer or via third-party clients. There are a number of private and public deployments of OpenSimulator, including OSgrid, which has over 8000 regions hosted by independent individuals and organizations spread over the Internet.

XMLUnit provides assertions and supporting class libraries to test various properties of generated pieces of XML using a popular testing framework. It supports finding the differences between two pieces of XML, validating documents against DTDs or XML Schemas, testing the results of XPath expressions, or asserting properties of Nodes exposed via DOM traversal. The MiniUPnP project is a library and a daemon. The library is aimed to enable applications to use the capabilities of a UPnP Internet Gateway Device present on the network to forward ports. The daemon adds the UPnP Internet Gateway Device functionality to a NAT gateway running OpenBSD/NetBSD/FreeBSD/Solaris with PF/IPF or Linux 2.4.x/2.6.x with netfilter. One of its most interesting features is to enforce some permissions to allow or deny redirections, bringing some security to UPnP. Newer versions also support the NAT-PMP protocol from Apple.
