Tor is a network of virtual tunnels that allows people and groups to improve their privacy and security on the Internet. It also enables software developers to create new communication tools with built-in privacy features. It provides the foundation for a range of applications that allow organizations and individuals to share information over public networks without compromising their privacy. Individuals can use it to keep remote Websites from tracking them and their family members. They can also use it to connect to resources such as news sites or instant messaging services that are blocked by their local Internet service providers (ISPs).
NetCrypto is a library of functions and a framework to interface with crypto algorithms provided by the calling application, built-in, or provided through shared libraries. It was developed with some features from OpenSSL in mind and with some inspiration from OpenSSL's EVP layer and ENGINE framework.
The Better String Library is an abstraction of a string data type which is superior to the C library char buffer string type and C++'s std::string. Among the features achieved are substantial mitigation of buffer overflow/overrun problems and other failures that result from erroneous usage of the common C string library functions, significantly simplified string manipulation, high performance interoperability with other libraries that expect '\0' terminated buffers, high performance common string operations, and functional equivalency with other more modern languages.
Botan is a crypto library written in C++. It provides a variety of cryptographic algorithms, including common ones such as AES, MD5, SHA, HMAC, RSA, Diffie-Hellman, DSA, and ECDSA, as well as many others that are more obscure or specialized. It also offers SSL/TLS (client and server), X.509v3 certificates and CRLs, and PKCS #10 certificate requests. A message processing system that uses a filter/pipeline metaphor allows for many common cryptographic tasks to be completed with just a few lines of code. Assembly and SIMD optimizations for common CPUs offers speedups for critical algorithms like AES and SHA-1.
sitepages_guard is a PHP class to monitor and restore damaged application files on a Web site. It can scan the application directory and make a compressed backup of its files. Later, the class can check if all files are still OK. If any files were damaged, the class can warn the administrator by email and restore the damaged or deleted files form a previous backup. If the installation is updated, the class can update the existing backup archive.
LibHTP is a security-aware parser for the HTTP protocol and the related bits and pieces. That can mean many things, but the only scenario in which LibHTP has been tested so far is the one when you need to parse a duplex HTTP stream that you have obtained by passively intercepting HTTP traffic. Just feed the raw TCP stream to LibHTP and it will do the rest.
Passfilter provides you with a terminal that has certain words blacklisted. Upon entering a predefined character sequence (defined as an MD5 sum), the terminal will erase the written characters with backspace, give an error message, and wait until the line is finished with the Enter key. The use case would be to stop you from accidentally entering passwords to IRC or possibly to other hosts, which could be compromised and could be logging your entry.
