Blitz is an open source JavaSpaces implementation designed to ease development and deployment of JavaSpaces technology. It is Jini 2.0 enabled, and uses established VM principles. It also implements smart indexing, tuneable persistence, and active/passive lease cleanup. It is designed with experimentation and expansion in mind.
Condor is a high throughput system, scheduling and providing large amounts of computational power over a long period of time. It provides the efficient use of a large variety of systems, from idle desktop workstations and dedicated clusters to grid systems all over the world, while its incredibly flexible configuration implements and maintains the machine owner's desired policy for the machine's availability.
Ibis is an efficient and flexible Java-based programming environment for Grid computing, in particular for distributed supercomputing applications. It boosts RMI performance using several optimizations, especially to avoid the high overhead of runtime type inspection that current RMI implementations have. It therefore comes with a highly efficient serialization implementation. The project also addresses the lack of expressiveness of Java RMI, which provides only synchronous client-server communication.
LAM/MPI is an implementation of the Message Passing Interface (MPI) parallel standard that is especially friendly to clusters. It includes a persistent runtime environment for parallel programs, support for all of MPI-1, and a good chunk of MPI-2, such as all of the dynamic functions, one-way communication, C++ bindings, and MPI-IO.
LAPACK is a linear algebra library, based on LINPACK and EISPACK, designed to provide routines for handling simultaneous equations and matrix algebra efficiently, particularly on shared memory vector processors, parallel processors, and clusters. The code is written in Fortran, and requires the BLAS (Basic Linear Algebra Subprograms) library.
The MPI-IO Test is built on top of MPI's I/O calls and is used to gather timing information for reading from and writing to file(s) using a variety of I/O profiles. A data aggregation capability is available and the user can pass down MPI-IO, ROMIO, and file system specific hints. The MPI-IO Test can be used for performance benchmarking and, in some cases, to diagnose problems with file systems or I/O networks.
MonAMI aims to be a standard place for monitoring the availability and performance of services. It can talk to many different monitoring systems while remaining easy to configure. It has a plugin structure, making it easy to add new things to monitor or to integrate with new monitoring systems.
NNTPSwitch is a Linux NNTP content router. It's aimed at high-performance news servers for ISPs and Usenet resellers. NNTPSwitch forwards client connections to multiple backend servers to get its actual articles. Depending on the backend server type, all NNTP commands and extensions are supported, including (remote) authorization. Accounting is supported in a user-friendly matter for data limited NNTP connections.
Rocks is a complete "cluster on a CD" solution for x86 and IA64 Red Hat Linux COTS clusters. Building a Rocks cluster does not require any experience in clustering, yet a cluster architect will find a flexible and programmatic way to redesign the entire software stack just below the surface (appropriately hidden from the majority of users). Although Rocks includes the tools expected from any clustering software stack (PBS, Maui, GM support, Ganglia, etc), it is unique in its simplicity of installation.
