BLD stands for "blacklist daemon" and is intended to serve a blacklist. The blacklist is built by simply inserting IP addresses or by using submission rate limits based on a maximum number of submissions of the same IP address within a minimum time interval. A BLD cluster can be built by configuring the daemon to notify other similar daemon(s) every time an IP address is added to the blacklist. BLD was primarily designed to fight against dictionary-based spam (by making the MTA report to BLD any host that tries to send email to an unknown user), but can be used by any program.
FileType is a file type detection engine written in C. It will appeal to coders looking for functionality similar to that provided by the 'file' command. FileType is compact (less than 20K binary), efficient, and very portable. FileType is part of the family of software created from the commercial Xamime email filtering project.
PHP MIME Mail decoder class is a PHP class to parse and decode MIME email messages. It supports decoding single RFC 2822 MIME messages or archives that aggregate multiple messages in the mbox format. It can decode messages read from files or data strings. The bodies of multipart messages can be decoded into distinct sub-messages. Optionally, the message body data can be saved to separate files, so the class can handle messages larger than the available memory. The parser can tolerate some syntax errors in malformed messages that are not compliant with RFC 2822.
PMilter implements Sendmail's "milter" mail filtering protocol in Perl, allowing scripts direct access to the SMTP transaction in progress, rather than filtering later. It can function as a drop-in replacement for Sendmail::Milter, though PMilter does not require threads or the "libmilter" API to be available.
