Many project are mirrored worldwide. Mirmon helps in monitoring these mirrors. In a concise graphic format, mirmon shows each site's history of the last two weeks, making it easy to spot stale or dead mirrors. Mirmon quietly probes a subset of the sites in a given list, writes the results in the "state" file, and generates a Web page with the results. The package includes a Perl module called Mirmon.pm; this makes it easy to write applications related to mirmon.
The NET-SNMP (formerly UCD-SNMP) package contains various tools relating to the Simple Network Management Protocol including an extensible agent, an SNMP library, tools to request or set information from SNMP agents, tools to generate and handle SNMP traps, a version of the unix 'netstat' command using SNMP and a Tk/perl mib browser. It was originally based on the Carnegie Mellon University SNMP implementation (version 184.108.40.206), but has been greatly enhanced, ported and fixed and barely resembles the original package anymore.
The Boehm-Demers-Weiser conservative garbage collector can be used as a garbage collecting replacement for C malloc or C++ new. It is also used by a number of programming language implementations that use C as intermediate code. Alternatively, it may be used as a leak detector for C or C++ programs. A slightly older version of the garbage collector is also included as part of the GNU compiler (gcc) distribution.
Rspamd is an anti-spam system designed to work faster than SpamAssassin by using the event model and various optimizations. Its most important features include regexp and Lua rules for filtering different parts of messages, a number of built-in functions for analyzing messages, fuzzy hash support, SURBL filters, email and character table support, a control interface for remote managing and stats gathering, a Lua plugin system, statistics support (OSB/Bayes), and an AJAX-based Web interface.
This is a handy little library which provides a packet filtering mechanism based on the BSD packet filter (BPF). Most notably, tcpdump needs this to work, and there is also a perl module (still in beta) which can use this as well. In plain english, if you want to write your own network traffic analyzer, this is the place to start.
Enhanced Navigation Facilities for HTML5 Videos allows Web developers to provide a list of scenes by which site visitors can click on a single scene to jump to a given location in the video. The currently-playing scene is highlighted. Other features include framewise stepping forward and backward, moving to the start and end of a video, fast forwarding, and rewinding.
mkpwd is a password generating program. It is designed to satisfy a scalable range of security demands. Its standard behavior is to generate one password consisting of any of all printable ASCII characters (32-128) with a length between 6 and 10. You can modify the way passwords are generated via command-line switches. You can specify a length range, the characters used, and even let mkpwd generate passwords that are somewhat readable and therefore easier to remember (and easier to crack as well).
