The SeaMonkey project is a community effort to develop an all-in-one Internet application suite. It contains an Internet browser, email and newsgroup client with an included Web feed reader, HTML editor, IRC chat, and Web development tools, and is sure to appeal to advanced users, Web developers, and corporate users. It uses much of the Mozilla source code powering such successful siblings as Firefox, Thunderbird, Camino, Sunbird, and Miro.
Dojo is a cross-browser AJAX/DHTML toolkit for building dynamic Web UIs. Dojo includes a rich-text editing component, an aspect-oriented event system, rich drag-and-drop support, a rapid-prototyping framework for building new widgets, and a full-featured abstraction for XmlHTTP I/O. In short, it's a very fast way to build Web interfaces.
Load is a utility for Web application and SOAP-based Web services performance and scalability testing. It features a scripting language and a library of test objects for the creation of intelligent agents that drive the Web application or SOAP-based Web service. Running hundreds of agents concurrently shows how your software performs in production environments. Load is a Java application that runs on Linux, Solaris, NT, Win2000, and Macintosh. While Load continues to be maintained, the next generation is the TestMaker program.
Luxor is an open-source XML User Interface Language (XUL) toolkit in Java that lets you build UIs using XML and also includes an ultra light-weight, multi-threaded Web server, a portal engine, and a template engine. It is also Web Start-ready, as everything fits in a jar and requires no loose files.
ThinWire is a development framework that allows you to easily build applications for the Web that have responsive, expressive, and interactive user interfaces without the complexity of the alternatives. While virtually any Web application can be built with ThinWire, it especially excels at enterprise applications, with its highly interactive and rich user interface components. Using ThinWire to handle the view-layer of your Java EE (J2EE) application can provide better user experience and with shorter development time.
The XView4Struts project is an extension to the Jakarta Struts Framework. Its main purpose is to eliminate the need to use tag libraries and JSP pages. The view is pure HTML, and interaction between the view and the model is transparent to the developer. This approach offers faster development, better division of work, a more pure MVC design pattern, reusable view components, and easier maintenance.
gwt-hibernate provides the basics to create a web application that uses GWT on the front end and Hibernate on the back end. It provides code generation templates and support classes that allow introspection, data binding, and validation of POJOs in the browser. Data-bound Form and Grid widgets are included.
