divine will use ARP requests to look for hosts that are always up in the networks that you frequently use your laptop in and then set the IP configuration including /etc/resolv.conf and write proxy settings in /etc/proxy. A perl script to edit your netscape 4 preferences is included. You can also run a custom script for each network to edit /etc/printcap or /etc/issue or whatever you feel like. The ARP method is much quicker than the "ping" method that other solutions use.

Lan Core is software that lets you build a thin client network on a Windows operating system. It was originally designed to work in a server or workstation with Windows XP Professional and using the native remote desktop protocol or RDP. To this end, the Lan Core package includes: (1) the Preboot Execution Environment or PXE service, a server application used to boot the thin clients (also referred as terminals or clients) in a local area network; (2) the thin client operating system (Thin OS), an embedded system based on Linux; and (3) an interface application used to manage the PXE service and thin clients. The thin clients' boot is done through a local area network (LAN), and it is based on the Preboot Execution Environment (PXE) protocol. In order to do it, Lan Core also provides two additional services: a DHCP server and a Trivial FTP server for Windows, used to assign IP addresses and transfer boot files, respectively.

The "EeePC-optimized Kernel for Ubuntu" project aims to produce a set of pre-compiled kernel packages that have been specially tailored to the EeePC's hardware and power usage, and to deliver these packages on a dedicated repository hosted by the author. Delivering these kernel packages over a Debian-style repository ensures that future updates and patches can be automatically downloaded to your EeePC as they're released. Current support is available for Ubuntu v8.04 (Hardy Heron) on the EeePC 700, 900, 900A, 901, 1000, and 1000H models.
