cdrtools (formerly cdrecord) creates home-burned CDs/DVDs with a CDR/CDRW/DVD/BluRay recorder. It works as a burn engine for several applications. It supports CD/DVD/BD recorders from many different vendors; all SCSI-3/mmc- and ATAPI/mmc-compliant drives should also work. Supported features include IDE/ATAPI, parallel port, and SCSI drives; audio CDs, data CDs, and mixed CDs; full multi-session support; CD-RWs, DVD-R/-RW, DVD+R/+RW, BD-R/BD-RE; and TAO, DAO, RAW, and human-readable error messages. cdrtools includes remote SCSI support and can access local or remote CD/DVD/BD writers.
bbiso is a shell script used to build a CD image for a bootable Linux system which runs entirely in RAM on an i386 PC platform. It is a rewrite and update of Philip Howard's bick package for making an image for a bootable Linux CD using Peter Anvin's syslinux. It consists of a configurable script plus required executables from other GPLed sources. It is oriented towards small target systems, and would usually run on a development host on which a filesystem image could be built.
Garbure is a collection of dedicated distributions. Each distribution provides carefully selected tools for a specific target domain, and is completed with examples and documentation. The set of distributions forms an entity, but each distribution works also on its own. All elements are arranged in the same way for each distribution.
Cobbler is a network installation and update server. It can be used to automatically set up PXE, install virtual guests, manage answer files, and reinstall existing Linux machines. Advanced features include importing distributions from DVDs and rsync mirrors, kickstart templating, integrated yum mirroring (integrated with the installer to make updates available at install time), creation of netboot ISOs, and built-in DHCP/DNS Management. Tools such as "cobbler triggers", a Python API, and an XMLRPC API allow integration with cobbler with the rest of your datacenter environment or other systems management applications. There is also a Web interface to simplify management of the install server. Cobbler supports RHEL 4+, Fedora, and derivative distributions, and is also able to install other popular distributions.
NeroLINUX is flexible graphical application to assist in burning writable CDs and DVDs in many formats. It supports all types of internal and external recorders that are supported by the API of the established Nero application for Windows. It features kernel optimizations for both 2.4 and 2.6 kernels, digital audio extraction, FreeDB support, and USB hotplugging. Video editing capabilities are not yet included.
INSERT (the Inside Security Rescue Toolkit) aims to be a multi-functional, multi-purpose disaster recovery and network analysis system. It boots from a credit card-sized CD-ROM and is basically a stripped-down version of Knoppix. It features good hardware detection, fluxbox, emelfm, links-hacked, ssh, tcpdump, nmap, chntpwd, and much more. It provides full read-write support for NTFS partitions (using ntfs-3g), and the ClamAV virus scanner (including a fairly recent signature database and a GUI). It provides partition handling with gParted and also has a network boot facility.
gBootRoot makes the construction and development of distributions fun and simple with its Root Methods (Yard) and user-mode-linux test bed. Finish the product with a Boot Method (2-disk compression supported). Normal (non-root) users can make root filesystems and boot disks. It includes the make_debian script to create a testable user-mode-linux base Debian system, add-ons to enhance methods, and an MTD Emulator useful for running distributions made with the jffs/jffs2 filesystem.
SoL (Server optimized Linux) is a Linux distribution completely independent from other Linux distributions. It was built from the original source packages and is optimized for heavy-duty server work. It contains all common server applications, and features XML boot and script technology that makes it easy to configure and make the server work.
An extension which allows customers to buy a product on installments.
