cdrtools (formerly cdrecord) creates home-burned CDs/DVDs with a CDR/CDRW/DVD/BluRay recorder. It works as a burn engine for several applications. It supports CD/DVD/BD recorders from many different vendors; all SCSI-3/mmc- and ATAPI/mmc-compliant drives should also work. Supported features include IDE/ATAPI, parallel port, and SCSI drives; audio CDs, data CDs, and mixed CDs; full multi-session support; CD-RWs, DVD-R/-RW, DVD+R/+RW, BD-R/BD-RE; and TAO, DAO, RAW, and human-readable error messages. cdrtools includes remote SCSI support and can access local or remote CD/DVD/BD writers.

glogin is a program that can be used to cause a terminal (usually a virtual console) to be logged in automatically, without having to type a userid and password. Stick it in place of getty in /etc/inittab to have terminals come up logged in and at a shell prompt at every boot. Same purpose as 'alogin', but you use it a little differently, and it does a little more of the usual login stuff. It is a simple Perl program, and can be easily customized.

sysv-rc-conf gives administrators an easy-to-use curses interface for managing /etc/rc{runlevel}.d/ symlinks. The interface comes in two different flavors, one that simply allows turning services on or off and another that allows for more fine tuned management of the symlinks. bbiso is a shell script used to build a CD image for a bootable Linux system which runs entirely in RAM on an i386 PC platform. It is a rewrite and update of Philip Howard's bick package for making an image for a bootable Linux CD using Peter Anvin's syslinux. It consists of a configurable script plus required executables from other GPLed sources. It is oriented towards small target systems, and would usually run on a development host on which a filesystem image could be built.

mbldr (Master Boot LoaDeR) is a boot loader which fits into the first sector of an HDD (MBR). It allows the user to choose which partition to boot and is intended to replace an MBR that comes with DOS/Windows (fdisk /mbr). It may boot OSes above the 1024th cylinder, and Linux and BSD are also supported. mbldr is based on OS Boot Select (OS-BS) project by Thomas wolfRAM.
