VULCAN (Viscous Upwind aLgorithm for Complex flow ANalysis) offers computational fluid dynamics for subsonic speed through hypersonic turbulent reacting and non-reacting flows on a variety of serial and parallel computational platforms. The computational cost of propulsion flow analysis is reduced through the use of special turbulent wall treatments, multi-grid methods for elliptic and space marching schemes, and conditioning of the governing equations to reduce numerical stiffness. Physical modeling capabilities are improved through the inclusion of models for compressibility, Reynolds stress anisotropies, turbulent diffusivity, finite rate chemistry, and turbulence/chemistry interaction effects. VULCAN can simulate two-dimensional, three-dimensional, or axi-symmetric multi-block problems.

The BioPHP Project (formerly called GenePHP) is a non-profit, open source software project that aims to extend the PHP scripting language so that it can be used to develop bioinformatics applications. BioPHP itself is not a bioinformatics application. Rather, it is a collection of tools to help PHP developers write bioinformatics applications more rapidly than if they had to start from scratch using "vanilla" PHP.

Taverna is a collection of workflow enactment and description components, including a high level language for workflows called Scufl (Simple Conceptual Unified Flow Language), a pure Java object model, parser to populate the model, and a set of views and controllers (including some Swing components to drop into your workflow-enabled applications). In order to actually run workflows you also need the myGrid workflow enactment engine.

MCS PGA 64 Filter Amp Controller is a small program that uses Qt 3.x to control the MultiChannelSystems Programmable Gain Amp (http://www.multichannelsystems.com), 64 channel version. This filteramp is a custom piece of equipment typically used in neuronal electronics. This program uses the serial port to set the gains on this programmable amplifier. It is a clone of the Windows version of this program that MCS normally supplies with its filter amp. It is 100% compatible UI-wise with the Windows version.

SimSoup is a graphical artificial chemistry simulator for Linux and Windows. The program enables a chemistry to be defined in terms of molecule types and the possible interactions between them. A simulation run involves setting up a number of molecules of various molecule types in a reactor, and then allowing interactions to take place over a period of time. Interactions taking place in the reactor are shown on a graphical display. The motivation for development of the program is to enable investigations into the behaviour of networks, particularly in relation to 'metabolism first' theories of the origin of life, although the basic design supports modeling of any network in which interactions can take place between nodes. Currently, development has reached the prototype stage.

GeneX Va is a gene expression database supporting storage and analysis of Affymetrix GeneChip technology. It is designed to serve as a secure repository and archive for many researchers' data. It is typically expected to be installed as part of a microarray center; the software is compact enough to install for a single department or even a single user. It includes an Analysis Tree package which includes an ever-expanding set of analytical tools, and has plug-in architecture allowing easy expansion. The "Va" in the name stands for the University of Virginia version, which is a total rewrite of what was originally NCGR's GeneX.

GenomePixelizer 2D plotter (or genoPix2D) generates images (actually interactive canvases) of genomic similarity dot plots in which each "dot" indicates similarity between a pair of genes. Diagonal runs of dots generally indicate collinearity (or synteny) in the genomic regions being compared. The program can compare large (chromosome-scale or even eukaryotic genome-scale) genomic regions, and can produce PostScript output of the dot plots. Images on a genoPix2D canvas are not static. They are interactive, and every dot (element) is associated with corresponding gene annotations that are searchable by gene ID or keyword.

GraphPak is a programming library of 2D and 3D charting objects for the Qt toolkit. It provides software developers with a set of C++ objects to easily create charts or graphs that aid in the visual presentation of technical and business data. This release includes Bar, Line, Pie, Ring, Area, Hi-Lo, Box and Whisker, and Polar charts. It is based on the KD Chart product from Klarälvdalens Datakonsult AB.
