Mobile Device Tools provides a set of tools to help J2ME MIDP developers with Java implementations on new devices. The three tools are "Keys", which tests which events are generated by which keys and finds the key codes of non-standard keys, "Specs", which finds the basic device information and the support for the various optional JSRs, and "ClassBrowser", which provides information about feature support by allowing the user to explore the hierarchy of the classes present on the device.
SLAMD is a Java application designed for stress testing and performance analysis of network-based applications. Although it was originally designed for benchmarking directory servers, it is actually very flexible and can be used to test applications using a wide range of protocols like LDAP, HTTP, POP, IMAP, and SMTP, and can also interact with relational databases using JDBC. In addition, it provides a Java-based API for developing custom workloads, and a scripting engine and record and playback tools that may also be used in the load generation process.
BixData is a cluster management tool that includes monitoring and system administration features. It monitors services (HTTP, ping, POP3, SMTP), performance, and processes. It has a management console for VMWare and Xen that supports multiple virtual machine hosts and guests. It can create critical notifications and send email alerts for any system event (HTTP, ping, CPU, memory, SMART diagnostics, VM stats). A graphical desktop supports real-time dynamic graphs. The runtime agents and server components are lightweight and easy to set up and run.
HPC Challenge is a collection of benchmarks for measuring various aspects of system performance, such as flop/s, sustainable memory bandwidth, memory read/write rates, network bandwidth, and latency for parallel machines. It is designed for supercomputers, but will run on any computer with MPI-1 (Message Passing Interface) implementation and BLAS (Basic Linear Algebra Subprograms).
Bootchart is a tool for performance analysis and visualization of the GNU/Linux boot process. Resource utilization data and process information are collected during the boot process, and can later be displayed in a PNG, SVG, or EPS encoded chart. Analyzing the chart will help in finding opportunities for optimization.
Aranha is an application that uses an XML-RPC layer to retrieve information from one or more servers. The type of information gathered is implemented via plugins, and can be displayed or archived in several different ways. The data is gathered in Round Robin Databases (integrated with rrdtool) and can be accessed using a XUL interface available from the system. Plugins are very easy to write.
Nettion (NETwork TestIng and Operational eNvironment) is a framework for developing, deploying, and executing network performance tests, designed particularly for mobile ad-hoc networks. It is distinguished by not using control "backchannels" to start and stop the test, but rather using either a local setup network, the test network itself, or compact flash memory.
