cdck is a simple program for verifying CD/DVD quality. Even if all files on the disc are readable, some sectors having bad timing and could become unreadable in the future. The tool reads a disc sector by sector, recording all reading timings, and then tells you its verdict. It can optionally write a timing table into a text file usable by gnuplot, from which graphs can be drawn.

kernbench is a CPU throughput benchmark. It is designed to compare kernels on the same machine, or to compare hardware. It runs a kernel compile at various numbers of concurrent jobs: 1/2 number of CPUs, optimal (default is 4xnumber of CPUs), and maximal job count. Optionally it can also run single threaded. It then prints out a number of useful statistics for the average of each group of runs.

MCS MyVoIP very accurately measures the quality and performance of Internet connections for Voice over IP (VoIP) usage by simulating UDP voice data traffic between a server and browser clients. Connections are tested for jitter and packet loss and rated for the supported level of sound quality. The VoIP test can be set to various codecs or customized by packet size, packet rate, and test length. The test can further be combined with a bandwidth speed test or network route diagnostics for more in-depth connection analysis.

This suite currently consists of three programs, Postal, Rabid, and BHM. Postal (the mad postman) is a program that will deliver mail as fast as possible via the SMTP protocol to test mail server performance. Rabid (the mad Biff) will eat mail via the POP protocol as fast as possible and measure POP server performance. BHM is the Black Hole Mailer to discard SMTP mail. All messages sent via Postal have MD5 checksums appended, and Rabid will check the MD5 to ensure that the messages are not being corrupted.
