Newpods can help you sync recently downloaded podcasts to your portable device. It will look through a directory tree to find podcasts that have been downloaded since the last time the program was run. It will then insert two commands into the bash history list: one to pushd to the podcast directory on your portable device, so you can clean out old files as needed, and one to copy the new podcasts to your portable device. If you're tired of copying files by hand, but don't want to use a heavyweight GUI solution, newpods might be right for you.
Publish is a relatively simple bash script for reducing the workload in the tasks related to publishing an image into a user's ~/public_html elsewhere via scp. Optionally, the script prints out the URL (preformatted for Web BBS use if so desired) coupled with most relevant EXIF information, does conversion operations, and adds an copyright notice.
selector is a command line utility for dynamic string selection. It reads the content of the specified files, and as the user types a list of strings separated by ";" (or a regexp), the display is updated in real time to show only the lines containing all the said strings (or matching the regexp). This command was mainly designed as a way to search in the shell history, for which it is substantially more efficient than the standard readline ^R binding. With the -v option, it injects the selected line into the tty input buffer, hence allowing the user to edit the line and execute it as a standard command.
MBFL is a collection of libraries for the GNU Bash shell. It is an attempt to make GNU Bash a viable solution for medium sized scripts. A set of modules implementing common operations and a script template are offered by this package. The author has used them with success in implementing non-small scripts.
Yessh is a bash program that uses the SSH client. It provides fast connections to Linux/Unix hosts. Just type the name you have chosen for a host, and yessh will connect you via SSH. You don't need to remember the IP address, hostname, login, or password; just one arbitrary name. Accounts with passwords are kept in a secure file where passwords are encrypted using OpenSSL with 128-bit AES. You can use the autoconnect function to connect to your server with 5 keypresses.
Tartarus is a backup script designed to make backups of dedicated servers easy. It employs a range of standard Unix tools to achieve this goal, to simplify disaster recovery even when only a minimal rescue system is available. Archives can be stored on-the-fly on FTP servers as well as in the local filesystem, while a plugin system allows adaption to a wide range of usage scenarios. The use of LVM snapshots and the creation of differential backups are also included, as is an expire script to remove older archives from an FTP site.
