make_cd_label is a script that helps create stickers for CDs. It is intended to be integrated with your backup scripts, but can also make stickers for audio CDs using CDDB and disc-cover. The output is an XML file that can be read into glabels and then edited or printed. It uses Memorex or Avery CD label stickers.
Bontmia is a network-based backup tool that saves configurable numbers of last month, week, day, hour, and minute backups. Each backup is a complete snapshot of the original directories, and only new and changed files take up space when generating snapshots because of the use of hard links. Remote access is secure by using SSH. Only changes are transferred, which makes for a fast backup.
bdmn is client/server-oriented backup system. The daemon runs on the machine being backed up, and the client runs on the machine that stores the backup. It is very simple, but very fast. It only uses tar, gzip, uuencode, and Perl, so it is portable to many operating systems. It includes a very simple access control system for itself.
PsyncX allows you to backup either part or all of your hard drive. You can mirror your selected folder to a FireWire drive, a disk image, or a network drive (this feature doesn't seem to be working right now). In addition, psync will create a bootable drive if you mirror your entire harddrive. PsyncX allows you to schedule regular backups as well. (Note: your computer can't be asleep for this to work properly).
tresor is an application for performing full backup and fast restores with bytepositioning tape drives. This option is available on some Tandberg and Wangtek streamers and some SCSI-2 tape drives. It features flexible configuration, a database for multiple volumes, fast restores (due to direct seeking), a graphical user interface, tape operations based on dd, afio, and mt, and tape identification using its own header. Language support for German and English is included.
