glucopy-glurestore is a set of scripts for copying and restoring a fully functional GNU/Linux (or other Unix-like) system. The glucopy script will back up all system content (system and user files), while the glurestore script will partition and format an identical system, restore the system and user files, and make the system bootable. The scripts are included in the HTML documentation.

The Linbox Rescue Server (LRS) is a tool to centralize hard disk images (like Ghost Enterprise Server), file backups, hardware and software inventory (with Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X agents), secure software deployment using OpenSSH, and remote access on a single server. It can be managed from any PC through a Web-based administration interface, and disk images can be restored using PXE boot or using a bootable CD or DVD. It supports Ext2/3, ReiserFS, XFS, JFS, and LVM v1/v2.

SystemImager automates the installation of Linux to masses of similar machines. Software distribution, configuration, and operating system updates are made easy, including updates from one Linux release to another. It can also be used for content distribution on Web servers. It is most useful in environments with large numbers of identical machines. Some typical environments include Internet server farms, high performance clusters, computer labs, and corporate desktop environments where all workstations have the same basic hardware configuration.

PHP Tarbackup is a simple class that allows backing up an entire Web site. pkt is a universal XML packet archiver. It can manipulate files for backing up documents, transferring them across networks, emailing them, and sharing them by other means (p2p etc). It uses plugin filters to do the job and handles virtually any format available if there is a plugin for it. It handles encryption, compression, conversion, parity checking, decryption, decoding, repairing, rebuilding, and other tasks using a universal file format (XML-based). By default, all pkt output is in 7-bit ASCII which is UTF encoded and is compatible with XML parsers. pkt files can be disassembled, reassembled, and repaired by hand if necessary. pkt also supports the use of 8-bit compressed XML packets for its archives using one of several compression algorithms. In general, pkt will try to use the best algorithms available.

ZFolder2Product takes the contents of a Zope folder and creates a custom Zope Product, which then re-creates the entire folder contents when installed. The advantage of using ZFolder2Product over a normal Zope exportation is that the folder contents are saved in external files usable within a version control system like CVS. After re-importing the files, you can edit them using the Zope Management Interface and export them back to the filesystem.

changedfiles is a framework for filesystem replication, security monitoring, and/or automatic file transformations--essentially any application where you'd poll files or directories and either do something to them or send them somewhere else (or both). The difference is that the kernel tells you when they change instead of you having to poll. It's an easy real time FTP push mirror to one or multiple sites. It's also a full fledged MySQL client, so you can do realtime database operations (for example, batch imports). It consists of two parts: a kernel module (works with Linux kernel version 2.4) which reports to a device whenever a file on the filesystem changes, and a daemon which runs in user space and can be configured to do almost any action when a change to a file matching the one of the patterns it looks for is reported. The kernel module is SMP safe and has been tested on Intel, PowerPC, and Alpha.
