ccurve_create.tcl is a TCL script (plus associated csh scripts) that makes it is possible to calculate cooling curves (plasma emissivities, in units of erg cm^3 s^-1) as a function of plasma temperature using the hot plasma codes available in the XSPEC spectral fitting program. Element-or-line-specific cooling functions can also be created. These can be used in hydrodynamical simulations to assess the total cooling rate, calculate the luminosity in a specific wavelength/energy range, or more generally to calculate X-ray or UV line diagnostics.
discord is a very simple Python module that allows for conversion from normal dates (via 'time.time', 'time.localtime', etc.) to Discordian dates. The module can either be used as a standalone command line application (which prints the current date in Discordian form) or as an extension module.
EQUINOX-3D is a 3D modeler with a very fast, fully integrated ray-tracer. It features read/write support for COLLADA, read support for Radiance's .hdr image format, 3DS (3D-studio) file format read support, multi-texturing, custom-programmable texture mapping, bump-mapping with automatic texture-space tangents, the ability to zoom into a region with "fly-to", and more. It includes a full runtime-class framework and a core design that allows for the addition of anything from a physics engine to a fully integrated renderer from a plugin. It is faster and more memory efficient than many other modelers.
Extrema, originally developed in the fields of nuclear and particle physics, is a powerful visualization and data analysis tool that enables researchers to quickly distill their large, complex data sets into meaningful information. Its flexibility, sophistication, and power allow you to easily develop your own commands and create highly customized graphs.
GCX provides a complete set of data-reduction functions for CCD photometry, with frame WCS fitting, automatic target identification, aperture photometry of target and standard stars, single-frame ensemble photometry data reduction, multi-frame color coefficient fitting, extinction coefficient fitting, and all-sky photometry. It also controls CCD cameras and telescopes, and implements automatic observation scripting. Cameras are controlled through a hardware-specific server, to which gcx connects through a TCP socket. The program can control telescopes which use the LX200 protocol, and refine pointing by matching images to the GSC catalog position of stars. It generates FITS files with comprehensive header information.
jAscom is a wrapper around the JACOB (JAva-COM Bridge) libraries for easy access to the ASCOM Platform 3.0 using Java. It provides all functionality (methods and properties) of the ASCOM Telescope API version 2. It also includes the Focuser and Dome API. This means easy and fast coding of Java applications for all sorts of telescope controlling problems, using a widely accepted standard.
libAstronomy provides a set of astronomical routines to ease the calculation of ephemerides. It includes mathematical functions to compensate various astronomical phenomena like precession, nutation, etc. The getconstellation routine finds the constellation for a given coordinate. It also calculates the positions of the sun and moon in two different precise ways.
