KAstrometry is an astrometry program for KDE. It is written in Python. It aims to be a good tool to make measurements of objects in space from images taken by CCD cameras. Such measurements might be used to find orbits of astroids or record the brightness of variable stars. One day, it should be able to record an object's position, detect stars, and find coordinates using star catalogs.
Xplns is a free astronomy simulation software written specifically for Unix. It reproduces real starry sky on your display of X Window System. It calculates the position of many celestial objects accurately. You can enjoy the past and future sky on the desk top as if you have traveled all around the world.
PP3 creates celestial charts. It generates resolution-independent maps of very high graphical quality. They can be used, for example, as illustrations in books or on Web pages. It is possible to change many parameters, and arbitrary text can be placed on the maps. The output formats are EPS or PDF.
NOVAS (Naval Observatory Vector Astrometry Subroutines) is an integrated package of subroutines for the computation of a wide variety of common astrometric quantities and transformations. It can provide the instantaneous coordinates (apparent, topocentric, or astrometric place) of any star or planet, and also provides general astrometric utility transformations, such as those for precession, nutation, aberration, parallax, etc. It is useful for data reduction programs, telescope control systems, and simulations.
The PHP SETI@home web monitor is a very simple PHP script to monitor a single SETI@Home program running on a workstation or server via the local Web server. It displays general information of the user, the current work unit and the processing statistics. It also displays a skymap to show the source of the current data.
