SaVi is satellite visualization software that lets you create, run, examine, and modify satellite orbits in two and three dimensions. Simulations of Iridium, Globalstar, Galileo, GPS, and other satellite constellations are included. SaVi requires Tcl and Tk on a system with Unix libraries. SaVi works well with the 3D renderer Geomview. Geomview is optional, though recommended for its 3D rendering capabilities.
Mars MOLA Viewer displays a fly-over rendering of the Martian surface, as measured by the Mars Global Surveyor, in real-time 3D animation. It downloads the Mars Orbiting Laser Altimeter topographic data files and uses them to drive the rendering. The user controls the position and the angle of the camera, and can move seamlessly over the entire Martian surface from -88 to 88 degrees latitude. It is a Java Web Start program with 1-click installation from your browser (depending on platform/browser).
ImageJ is an image processing program inspired by NIH Image for the Macintosh. It can display, edit, analyze, process, save, and print 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit images. There are modules for biology, astronomy, nuclear medicine, physics, and more. If you can take a picture of something, whether with a microscope, a telescope, an oscilloscope, an xray machine, or a scanner, then this program will let you enhance, manipulate, and measure the results.
McIDAS-Lite is a freely available demo for the full McIDAS software. It will connect to a variety of free online data sources for satellite data and display the images in a viewing window. Images can be looped and analyzed, and graphics overlays can be created to show maps and other geographical features. It is available for AIX, HP-UX, Irix, Linux, Mac OS X, Solaris Sparc, Solaris x86, and Windows XP with SFU.
MarsClock is designed to aid engineers, astronomers, Gods of War, Hrossa, and specifically mission controllers for the upcoming NASA MER and ESA Beagle-II missions to Mars. It converts to and from Earth time (Local and UTC) and Mars time (Local Mean Solar Time and Local True Solar Time) for any location.
