asmutils is a set of miscellaneous utilities written in assembly language, targeted on embedded systems and small distributions (e.g. installation or rescue disks). It also contains a small libc and a crypto library. It is optimized for size, memory usage, and speed, and offers fairly good functionality. The project supports Linux and the BSD family. Unixware, Solaris, and AtheOS support is in beta stage. This package also aims to provide a portable development framework, and to encourage assembly programmers to write for Linux/Unix.
GAG is a Graphical Boot Manager with a lot of features. It doesn't need a partition, it works with primary and extended partitions in every hard disk, it has a lot of icons, it allows you to put passwords for each operating system, it can swap hard disks and it can be tested from diskette. The SafeBoot feature allows you to boot your hard disk even if GAG is overwritten. It includes extensive support for many languages and keyboard types.
ECMA-55 Minimal BASIC is a compiler for "Minimal BASIC" as specified by the ECMA-55 standard. The target is AMD64/EM64T/x86-64 machines running a modern Linux distribution (a 3.x kernel). This compiler will create Assembly Language output files. These must be assembled into object files and linked to create an executable. The Assembly dialect used is that of GNU gas.
GNU Lightning is a library that generates assembly language code at run time. It is very fast, making it ideal for Just-In-Time compilers, and it abstracts over the target CPU, as it exposes to the clients a standardized RISC instruction set (inspired by the MIPS and SPARC chips).
GImageView is a GTK+ based image viewer. It supports tabbed browsing, thumbnail table views, directory tree views, drag and drop, reading the thumbnail cache of other famous image viewers, and a flexible user interface. It also support movies using the Xine library and MPlayer, and supports images in compressed archive formats like tar.gz, zip, and lha.
libjpeg-turbo is a high-speed version of libjpeg for x86 and x86-64 processors. It uses SIMD instructions (MMX, SSE, SSE2) to accelerate baseline JPEG compression and decompression. libjpeg-turbo is generally 2-4 times as fast as the unmodified version of libjpeg. It also includes a wrapper library for the TurboJPEG API used by VirtualGL and TurboVNC. It was originally based on libjpeg/SIMD but has improved support for Mac OS X, 64-bit platforms, 32-bit and big endian pixel formats (RGBA/BGRA/ABGR/ARGB), accelerated Huffman encoding/decoding, and various other fixes.
MikeOS is an operating system for x86 PCs, written in assembly language. It is a learning tool to show how simple OSes work, with well-commented code and extensive documentation. It features a text-mode dialog-driven user interface, a file manager and machine code monitor, and over 60 system calls for use by third-party programs.
libCVD is a very portable and high performance C++ library for computer vision, image, and video processing. The emphasis is on providing simple and efficient image and video handling and high quality implementations of common low-level image processing function. The library is designed in a loosely-coupled manner, so that parts can be used easily in isolation if the whole library is not required. The video grabbing module provides a simple, uniform interface for videos from a variety of sources (live and recorded) and allows easy access to the raw pixel data. Likewise, the image loading/saving module provides simple, uniform interfaces for loading and saving images from bitmaps to 64 bit per channel RGBA images. The image processing routines can be applied easily to images and video, and accelerated versions exist for platforms supporting SSE.
Yasm is a complete rewrite of the NASM assembler. It currently supports the x86 and AMD64 instruction sets, accepts NASM and GAS assembler syntaxes, outputs binary, ELF32, ELF64, COFF, Mach-O (32 and 64), RDOFF2, Win32, and Win64 object formats, and generates source debugging information in STABS, DWARF 2, and CodeView 8 formats.
Libecc is a C++ elliptic curve cryptography library that supports fixed-size keys for maximum speed. The goal of this project is to become the first free Open Source library providing the means to generate safe elliptic curves, and to provide an important source of information for anyone with general interest in ECC.
