Agnix is a small, educational operating system kernel for i386, supporting 32-bit protected memory mode, paging, hardware switched tasks, memory tests, PCI bus, devices, PCI IRQ routing, RT timers, network protocols. It is available with all the source code and is fully compatible with the Linux kernel API.
METAXPON ("Metachron" in Greek letters) is a small and fast audio DSP library for time-scale manipulation of 16-bit integer or 32-bit floating point stereo audio data streams. It employs a rigid phase-locked vocoder with dedicated transient detection and processing, and can work in real-time or non-real-time. Four editions are included - a portable edition and three x86 editions. The portable edition can be built with any ANSI C compiler and is OS- and architecture-independent. The three x86 editions are written in assembly using the FPU, 3DNow!, and SSE instruction sets, respectively, with automatic selection between them depending on the CPU capabilities. They can be compiled with MASM, JWASM, or NASM, producing libraries of object files in 8 formats.
The Objex Project (like the GNU Project) aims to develop a complete operating system composed of free and open source software. In contrast to the GNU Project, it aims to build a modern system that brings together all the recent advances in computer science, instead of a Unix-like system. "A complete system" means that it will include the kernel, a full suite of developers tools, user utilities, and a graphical user interface. It is based on OSKit, a framework and a set of utilities, drivers, and program code intended for operating system creation.
Push Puppet Toy is a computer-controlled puppet that stands to attention when a friend joins an IRC channel or comes online on IM, and collapses when he leaves. The concept is very similar to the Availabot (http://availabot.com/), but works under Linux. Schematics, firmware for the puppet, and plugins for Gaim and XChat to control the puppet are provided.
YASP is a simple and open protocol for building networks with small microcontrollers. It is designed to have a small footprint for easy implementation with minimal hardware resources, but without sacrifice advanced features and future growth. The protocol scalability is implemented using variable length fields. The physical layer use the NRZ encoding as in RS-232, but using dominant and recessive bus states to provide a reliable way to detect collisions.
