Joshua is a chess robot. It is a stepper motor robot that interfaces with a photosensible board and a computer to play chess with an embedded artificail intelligence, a game database, or a player on the Internet. The package includes software, robot photos, technical papers, schematics, and cabling instructions.
Inlab-Scheme is an independent implementation of the algorithmic language Scheme and conforms to the R4RS and the IEEE Standard 1178. In addition to the language core, Inlab-Scheme has support for image processing which allows the implementation of OCR and image recognition applications. Inlab-Scheme comes with two built in graphic file format converters which convert the PATIMG patent file format and the ST.33 patent file format to multipage TIFF without decompressing.
Prolog Statistical Machine Translation is a fairly unsophisticated statistical machine translation program. It consists of a language model learner (which takes example sentences in the target language and learns a language model based on trigrams), a dictionary learner (which learns word-for-word translations), and a search program (which uses the data from the first two parts to translate a source sentence into the target language).
The Spider is a complete object-oriented environment for machine learning in Matlab. Aside from ease of use for base learning algorithms, algorithms can be plugged together and can be compared with, for example, model selection, statistical tests, and visual plots. This gives all the power of objects (reusability, the ability to plug together, sharing of code), but also all the power of Matlab for machine learning research.
clipsmm is a C++ library that provides an interface to the CLIPS library. CLIPS provides a C environment for the construction of rule- and/or object-based expert systems used by NASA, branches of the military, numerous federal bureaus, government contractors, universities, and many companies. Several areas in which clipsmm extends the CLIPS interface are templated function callbacks using sigc++ slots, and encapsulated CLIPS execution environments.
OneStroke is a gesture-based character input program. Because a tablet PC in tablet mode does not have a keyboard, a software replacement is necessary. OneStroke aims to be a more elegant replacement to the bulky on-screen keyboard. Single-stroke gestures drawn on the main window generate X11 keyboard events in the currently focused window as if typed on the keyboard. This program has been succeeded by CellWriter, please see http://risujin.org/cellwriter or http://freshmeat.net/projects/cellwriter for more information.
Modell (Modular Extension Lisp Language) is an object-oriented, modular variant of the LISP programming language, specially suitable for embedding in applications using a C++ API. It is implemented as a C++ library (libmodell) and a command-line interactive interpreter for testing and rapid development, and includes modules for diverse tasks such as math, strings processing, interaction with the operating system, and others.
