Tivoli has released a client that allows people to backup their linux systems to adsm servers. This package comes with the full version 3.7.2 client, X-Windows and console backup/restore clients, and the adsm administrative command line client. The API library and the WEB-Client is also included.
afbackup is a client-server backup system allowing many workstations to backup to a central server either simultaneously or serially. Backups can be started remotely from the server or via cron jobs on the the clients. Any streaming device, including a drive partition acting as a "virtual" tape changer, can be used for storing data. Autochangers can be used, if an appropriate auxiliary program, such as mtx or stctl, is available and working. afbackup has been tested on Linux, AIX, IRIX, FreeBSD, Digital Unix (OSF1), Solaris and HP-UX. The clientside has also been tested on SunOS and OpenBSD.
Afio makes cpio-format archives. It deals somewhat gracefully with input data corruption, supports multi-volume archives during interactive operation, and can make compressed archives that are much safer than compressed tar or cpio archives. Afio is best used as an `archive engine' in a backup script.
AutoRPM is a program that can do any combination of the following: mirror RPMs from an FTP site, keep installed RPMs consistent with an FTP site or local directory and keep installed RPMs in a cluster or network of systems consistent. It is highly flexible and contains a fully command-line driven interactive install mode (for installing RPMs from the queue or for installing RPMs from your system interactively). It also handles recursive dependencies, multiple versions of the same RPM, the same RPM with multiple architectures, and more. It does some of the same tasks as up2date and AutoUpdate.
AutoUpdate is a Perl script which performs a task similar to Red Hat's up2date or autorpm. It can be used to automatically download and upgrade RPMs from different HTTP(S) or (S)FTP sites, while also handling dependencies. Moreover, it can also be used to keep a server with a customized (Red Hat) distribution plus all clients up to date.
BackupEDGE provides live system backup and restoration and includes the RecoverEDGE Crash Recovery package. By using this tool, you can create emergency recovery diskettes to rebuild your system in the case of a catastrophic hardware failure. RecoverEDGE handles the details of reconstructing your FDisk, divvy, and/or slice tables, rebuilding your filesystems, and restoring your data, even if your hard drive size and / or geometry has changed. RecoverEDGE uses your live system backups, so there's no need to shut down your system in order to protect it.
BackupSW is a backup and file transfer application. It can be used on a single computer or in networked environments across different platforms. Its capabilities include user profiles that capture file selections for common operations, different backup policies, fast and easy file transfers between different types of computers, batch and command line operation modes, filtering based on regular expressions, and advanced operations such as signal generation for mounting file systems.
