Clonezilla is a partition or disk cloning tool similar to Symantec Ghost. It saves and restores only blocks in use on the hard drive if the file system is supported. For unsupported file systems, dd is used instead. It has been used to clone a 5 GB system to 40 clients in about 10 minutes.

Lziprecover is a data recovery tool and decompressor for files in the lzip compressed data format (.lz) able to repair slightly damaged files, recover badly damaged files from two or more copies, extract undamaged members from multi-member files, decompress files, test integrity of files, extract a range of bytes from a file, and list the correct size of multi-member files. Lziprecover is able to recover or decompress files produced by any of the compressors in the lzip family; lzip, plzip, minilzip/lzlib, clzip, and pdlzip. This recovery capability contributes to make the lzip format one of the best options for long-term data archiving.

uBeeDisk is a tool that copies disks and images from one to another. It was developed to archive Microbee disk images from floppy disks and to write them back to floppy, but other disk formats can be added. It is intended mainly for users of computer emulators. As the program makes use of the 'LibDsk' library there are many options for image types. The program provides some data recovery methods along with 'info' files for each disk image file created. An 'info' file contains information about the disk image, a status map of all sectors read from the disk, and an MD5 stamp of the associated disk image.

Just click on the Store Email in Database button and MailSteward will go to work storing copies of all your email, both text and HTML versions, and attachments, into a relational database file. Plzip is a massively parallel (multi-threaded), lossless data compressor based on the LZMA algorithm, with very safe integrity checking and a user interface similar to the one of gzip or lzip. It uses the lzip file format; the files produced by plzip are fully compatible with lzip-1.4 or newer, and can be rescued with lziprecover. It is intended for faster compression/decompression of big files on multiprocessor machines, which makes it especially well-suited for distribution of big software files and large scale data archiving. On files big enough (several GB), plzip can use hundreds of processors.
