OpenArm is an implementation of the Open Group's Application Response Measurement (ARM) standard. It provides a complete implementation of the ARM 4.0 Java interfaces, as well as ARM agent functionality that allows you to record your transaction events as log4J logging events, JMS messages, SNMP traps, JMX notifications, or as records in a relational database.
Device Interaction Suite is a framework for interaction with networking devices from various vendors, over various transport mechanisms, and with various authentication schemes. Current connectivity and abstraction modules cover devices from Cisco, Juniper, Redback, Foundry, Laurel, Overture, Riverstone, and Alteon.
Elektra is a universal hierarchical configuration store, similar to GConf and the Windows Registry. It allows programs to read and save their configurations with a consistent API, and allows them to be aware of other applications' configurations, leveraging easy application integration. While architecturally similar to other OS registries, Elektra does not have most of the problems found in those implementations. Elektra includes a library, an API, and commandline and GUI tools for administration tasks.
crypt_blowfish is an efficient implementation of a modern password hashing algorithm, based on the Blowfish block cipher, provided via the crypt(3) and a reentrant interface. It is compatible with bcrypt as used in OpenBSD. It is adaptable to future processor performance improvements, allowing you to arbitrarily increase the processing cost of checking a password while still maintaining compatibility with your older password hashes. The hashes it produces are several orders of magnitude stronger than traditional Unix DES-based or FreeBSD-style MD5-based hashes.
The tcb suite implements the alternative password shadowing scheme on Openwall GNU/*/Linux (Owl) which allows many core system utilities (passwd(1) being the primary example) to operate with little privilege. It is being made available separately from Owl primarily for use by other distributions. This package contains three core components of the tcb suite: pam_tcb (a PAM module which supersedes pam_unix), libnss_tcb (the accompanying NSS module), and libtcb (a library for accessing tcb shadow files, used by the PAM and NSS modules as well as by user management tools on Owl).
epto is a small library and framework for industrial strength shell script programming with sh. It features convenient error handling, tracing, logging, option handling, documentation template, process level transaction safety (sort of), and more. If one is used to shell programming, it takes less than five minutes of learning to start using it (see the crash course in the README file).
MX4J is an Open Source implementation of the JMX technology (JSR 3) and of the JMX Remote API (JSR 160). It aims to create JMX-related tools such as adaptors, connectors, and utility MBeans. JMX is the Java standard used to create manageable server-side applications, and it is used as a base architecture for many popular J2EE application servers, such as JBoss, BEA, Geronimo, etc.
The JBossMX project is a JBoss application server implementation of the Java Management Extensions technology. It is optimized for speed in the MBean server invocation bus, and will support many advanced features such as security, transactions, MBean server federation, and fail-over.
