VRaptor 2 is a Web-based MVC and IOC framework based on many frameworks and ideas (Seam, Stripes, Webwork, Hibernate Annotations, etc). It makes full use of Java 5 Annotations. It favors convention over configuration, because configuration in XML/properties/annotations is always easy to make mistakes and repetitive (aka copy and paste in many places). This framework uses a more imperative approach, instead of having many XML files to configure lifecycle and other properties. Most of the settings go inside plain Java objects (POJO), so the team knows exactly what is going on and where.
Aranea is a hierarchical Model-View-Controller Web framework that provides a common, simple approach to building Web application components, reusing custom or general GUI logic, and extending the framework. The framework enforces programming using object oriented techniques with POJOs and provides a JSP tag library that facilitates the programming of Web GUIs without writing HTML. In addition to being a full-fledged Web framework in its own right, it provides a powerful and simple component system that allows the framework to be tailored by configuring the reusable modules and adding modules only for the missing features.
JSON-lib is a Java library for transforming beans, maps, and XML to JSON and back to beans and DynaBeans. The main motivation for this library is to provide the means to transform data between a server and an AJAX enabled application using JSON (JavaScript Object Notation), a lightweight data-interchange format that is easy for both humans and machines to read and write.
Mr. Persister aims at providing a simple yet complete relational persistence API. Current features include easier JDBC operations via JDBC templates (Spring style), automatic connection/transaction handling, object relational mapping, dynamic report support, connection pooling, and more. Planned features include replication, JDBC driver debugging, more advanced ORM, and more.
Client-side GChart is a pure-GWT client-side charting solution. It does not require browser plugins, external JavaScript, or server round-trips. The package supports bar, line, and pie charts, custom ticks, left and right y axes, grid-lines, annotated data points, pop-ups, click events, and more.
AntUnit is a library of Ant tasks that was initially developed to write tests for Ant tasks without resorting to JUnit. It makes it easy to turn an existing build file that exhibits an error into an AntUnit test. Tests are written as targets in a build file using assertion tasks provided by AntUnit. The antunit task executes targets in a collection of build files and supports custom listeners in a manner similar to the junit task's formatters.
Sahi is an automation and testing tool for Web applications, with the facility to record and playback scripts. Features include, in-browser controls, text based scripts, ant support for playback of suites of tests, and multi threaded playback. It supports HTTP and HTTPS. Sahi runs as a proxy server, and the browser needs to use the sahi server as its proxy. Sahi then injects JavaScript so that it can access elements in the Web page. This makes the tool independent of the Web site or Web application.
Barcode4J is a barcode generation package. The following symbologies are currently implemented: Interleaved 2 of 5, Code 39, Codabar, Code 128, UPC-A and UPC-E (with supplementals), EAN-13 and EAN-8 (with supplementals), EAN-128, POSTNET, Royal Mail Customer Barcode, PDF417, and DataMatrix. Supported output formats are SVG, EPS (Encapsulated PostScript), Bitmap images (such as PNG or JPEG), and Java2D (AWT). Additional features include two APIs (XML-oriented and Bean-style), a Servlet with support for SVG, EPS, and bitmap output, a command-line interface, a demonstration applet, and extensions for Apache Xalan-J, SAXON, and Apache FOP.
